Would it benefit the team to sell Jerry?

If we could get the top end of 4 mill for him, would it be best to get rid. We could rebuild . Lavery could surely to a job?

Thought they might try to if we'd not gone up as Lavery was linked way before promotion and looked to be one they'd sounded out to come in as ready made replacement. Not as easy if you don't hit the ground running in the championship.

The recruitment and coaching model SS wants here will end up as an expensive hobby if it can't come up with at least one asset to sell for profit every year to help make the club more sustainable.

We need to learn our lesson from last season with writing off Jerry, that being said - clearly our financial position is a bit weaker than I had hoped so we will need to develop and sell to fund any significant transfer outlay. The plan is likely that he scores 10-15 this season and someone plonks down 8-10 million for him.

Too late now but if the management team knew we didn't have much of a pot of cash to fund transfers and we had a serious offer of 4 to 5 million for Yates, and that would all be reinvested in players, then yes.

He's at his best when he plays with a proper number 10 up top with him.
Madine inured and we don't have anyone else our teams looks tiny against others with no height up top.
So no don't get rid put play to his strengths we don't.

No, Jerry is nowhere near match fit to me, he looks like he’s not long off the piss, he needs to get his head down in training, the goals will come.

It was abundantly clear last season that Jerry’s best performances come when he’s got a physical partner of size to share the load and give him more space. He’ll also benefit from quick ball played forward from midfield and it sounds like we’re struggling to do that - no surprise when we don’t have Stewart or a fully fit Dougall.

Until we can solve some of these issues it’s going to be a battle and we’ll do well to stay in touch in games and - hopefully - pick off the odd win to keep the scoreboard moving.

seriously - hes gone three games without scoring so time to get rid.

is that a real opinion.

he was superb last season, it took him a while to get going. he will come good this season as well.
He’s gone three games with hardly getting a touch, never mind a goal.

hes literally had no service, but he has created chances. he is cutting a very frustrated figure at the moment, but he will come good, of that i have absolutely no doubt. Im more concerned with how our defence is completely dysfunctional at the moment. Just like the beginning of last season misses by strikers are very costly because the defence are making so many mistakes.

I get that, I watched Yates off the ball last night, he doesn’t seem at the races tbh. Lavery was busy, closing down, looked sharp.
I’m surprised how few people have mentioned the fact we had 4 x 1 on 1’s last night with their keeper. Pop a couple of those in and like you say it’s a different game.
Saying that they had plenty too.
Onwards and Upwards.

It's a marathon.....not a sprint......There are 3 points between us and a play off spot
There are clubs in exactly the same spot as us.....it's Deja Vu (again)....and look what happened....add your own platitudes

BUT THERE IS ONE THING.........We may be looking crap.....BUT WERE STILL BETTER (and above).........PKE....... 😄

Started last season similar.
Eventually played Madine alongside him ( then Simms) then became a true goalscorer.
We need Madine back asap & Simms if possible.
Also need our key injured players back, asap

Can’t believe what I’m reading, this lad is a class striker and some just do not get what he brings to the team, even on an off day. The lad scored the goals that massively contributed to our promotion, and this season, he’s absolutely starved of chances. I can think of 2 half chances, one he made himself with a fantastic turn v Cardiff. If he has one of the chances Lavery missed, he scores. I think the first chance Lavery missed, Jerry’s movement assisted him. The one at the start of the second half, Jerry flicked it on.

We have some issues to fix, but Jerry isn’t one of them.

True.

Jerry is the last player I'd sell.

Decent strikers are difficult to recruit

For what we'd get for him you couldn't replace him .

Like last season he 'll get a couple which light his fire

Maybe we should get him on a big night out in manchester

Did the trick last season

You can't be serious. I take you have watched him in training and you have also seen him on the piss 😂

When our team clicks, Yates, Lavery and Madine will find the goal. Probably Lavery first but the others shortly afterwards.
That said, Sunderland might bite at £4m.
