Wycombe charman not a happy bunny

Wycombe essentially got relegated due to Derby delaying publishing their accounts. They have absolutely every right to feel hard done by IMO.

It all comes back to EFL's utter ineptitude and inability to spell governance left alone implement and impose it.

OK, there is the trade off/interaction between company law, accounting (sharp) practices but most of the all the EFL.
However, the accounting treatment of player contracts by DCFC would be an open goal question at A-Level GSCE Accountancy student. Not even 'Cherry on top' would have suggested it as a rapist's ruse (admittedly, given the contract value of our players it was not at issue!

I wont be shocked if Gavin Hamilton is the next CEO of the EFL - that is how low the bar is.

I don't blame Wycombe for being pissed off. But this is just posturing for the media. I don't see that they have any locus in what is happening at Derby. Their hope of doing something disappeared once the season got under way.

Posture-on, I say. The EFL were given the chance to punish Derby with relegation. They chose not to do it. They (and Derby) deserve all the brickbats that come their way.

They were mid-table in League 1 and got promoted via making the Play-Offs on PPG bollocks in fairness.

They didn’t moan then.

Wycombe is a lesser club that would not have generated as much TV income.
Though who is interested in watching Derby but Derby fans.

There is no consistency whatsoever with the EFL.
Typical example being Bolton and Bury.
Loftyboy has it nailed on. Any breach of financial rules and regulations across the board then the punishment is automatic relegation at the end or start of the relevant season.
The relegation is part of the 3 that are relegated so the team 3rd from bottom would survive which would show fairness to them.

It doesn’t to be fair, but they got relegated over a full season points wise. They didn’t get promoted that way, so all this noise and moaning is a bit hollow in my opinion.
Reminds me of our Cardiff match... we were totally outplayed, and then the refs missed a handball that should have given us a penalty to set up an equalizer. So, yeah, in one sense we got screwed by a bad call, but in another sense it was a perfectly fair result because we didn't play well enough.

Wycombe, by the letter of the law, got screwed by a bad call. And they were also shite on the pitch. If Derby had played by the rules, Wycombe would have stayed up. Also, if Wycombe had gotten one more result out of the entire season, they would have stayed up.

Is Karl Oyston still on the Board?

They were eighth actually, a couple of points behind many of the teams above them and had a couple of games in hand. Didn't they go up to third? Which was fair, because they had the third best record. Anyway they still had to win a play-off, which they did.

Your argument doesn't stack up anyway. Are you suggesting that two wrongs make a right?

The Wycombe person is right. Think Derby will be helped by the league. Not as much as Bolton were. More than Wigan. And Eeeeeasily more than Bury.

I think my point is, they didn’t get promoted properly, they were sliding down the League that season in terrible form. Yes, they won the play-offs but it was highly doubtful they would have made them on the pitch before Covid and PPG hit.

They are now suggesting they shouldn’t have been relegated, but on the pitch they were.

Two wrongs don’t make a right, Derby have manipulated the system and will now be dealt with, fuck all will happen to Wycombe so all this noise from the Chairman is just that.

I think your first paragraph is just speculative, isn't it? They were in poor form but none of us can be sure how long it would have lasted or how other teams would have fared by comparison.

Your last paragraph is bang on.
