Yeaterdays Minute Silence

It was, I’m not sure that our fans might have jumped the gun in breaking the silence possibly, but I don’t think it mattered.

I remember a home match v Preston when there was a minute's silence, and after about 30 seconds of silence, one lone Nobber voice in the East ruined it by shouting, "We hate Blackpool."
🧡UTMP🧡

Don't think so mate, spontaneous applause broke out during Reveilli, it sounded like it started in the home ends, total respect from both sides.
Where were you sat in the stand? We were at the front of the lower tier and it sounded like it came from directly behind us. I certainly didn’t hear the ref whistle to end it.

Lower tier, agree I didn't hear the refs whistle, I think the applause drowned it out, if he actually blew it.

We had an immaculately observed minutes silence and last post the week before versus Coventry at Deepdale.
No idea what happened on Friday as they moved the match and I couldn’t go. I heard from mates that there was some shouting which was then shouted down at both ends. Not good.

If Blackpool Bolton was impeccably observed then every credit to both sets of fans.

I think the general idea was to blow up after the rouse, but the applause / crowd noise broke out beforehand.... If you watch the highlights, Norburn reacts to the crowd and jumps back to start warming up and then it dawns on him that everyone else is still stood...

I think they did explain what they were going to do over the tannoy, but it wasn't very clear...

It didn't detract from what was a well observed silence by both sets of fans, it was more an observation than a criticism.

The problem in stadiums is usually the latecomers who might not realise that the minutes silence is in progress
As the OP says on Sat it was impeccably observed though I do wish those in the stadium would just stand still for the duration

Watched Edinburgh and Connacht rugby over weekend and you couldn't hear a pin drop during the commemoration, the way it should be.

Shouldn't need to congratulate anyone for being quiet during a minute's silence.

"Well done. Good moron. Thankyou."

A couple of observations.

Football fans struggle to hold a minute's silence generally, hence the cop out minutes applause. How period can't keep their mouths shut for a minute or so is beyond me.

I wish think that there will be plenty of younger supporters who only have seen a minutes applause.

We also find call it a minute anymore; it's generally a "period of reflection"

Saturday was as good as I've seen in a very long time. The fact we got to the reveille without having to blow up early was because of how well the crowd had observed the silence.

I can't be the only one on here who remembers a game v Nobbers when one of their coaches had died a few days prior and we were supposed to observing a minutes silence when an indecent number of our fans in the South Paddock started to chant "fuck off Preston" for a good 20 seconds - that was before the time when referees were instructed to blow to signal the end if that kind of thing happened.

On reflection it wasn't our finest hour.

whilst of course you are quite correct, in this day and age it’s unfortunately not a given so congratulations were indeed worth it especially after the blackburn knobbers disruption the night before.
