Yesterday’s Goal

I’ve not seen any highlights and forgive me if this has been discussed before, but….

In the lead up to their goal, when Gabriel stretched to keep the ball in play, wasn’t the ball going out for a goal kick? From our angle it seemed like we should have let it run, so we were baffled with his decision.

Wondering if anyone else thought the same.
 
Obviously Gabriel believed it to be going for a corner but might have a check later because it was probably going harmlessly for a goal kick knowing our luck.

Maybe there was a nick off someone that was subtle, or he just misunderstood it. Seemed to me and those around that we all thought it was being a goal kick.
 
Quite simple Dembele did’nt close down the player who crossed the ball. He had a poor game but at 20yrs age we expect so much from him, he’s still learning the ropes of course.
 
Whatever, just shows what a ball into the box can produce. Can't believe after the spin & great run by Lavery he didn't hit the target in the 2nd half.

I’ve been disappointed with Lavery as I along with many thought we’d unearthed a gem. Whether injuries have taken there toll I don’t know. I’m starting to think it’s just the fact that he’s not good enough. That said I don’t like dissing our players & he still has time to prove me wrong. If it’s true he won’t sign a further contract then I guess it will be with someone else.

If he won’t sign it is probably for the best.
He has stagnated a bit here and needs a fresh challenge, also allows us to bring a replacement in.

Precisely why a, transfer is not beyond us. He gets, plenty of game time here which is far better for his personal development than Sat on a Bench in championship

Alan Ball helped to win a World Cup after he had just turned 21, so what has age to do with it?

Quite right and it is not the first time we have failed to stop a cross coming in which has resulted in a goal. Burton away is a prime example.
