If we get £3.5 million for Jerry( I think £4.5 million is optimistic),which players would you buy to enable us to have a great promotion push?
 
Not sure who, but if we say 4m.

Could get a 1 million striker, 1 million midfielder, 750k midfield, 750k winger for eg.

Rest to help towards the wages.

Or we could go 1 bigger signing and many decent prospects at a bit less.

Either way we can rebuild well if we recruit right and can attract them.

Morgan Rogers and Lewis Fiorini (Man City) £2mn combined with suitable sell-on/buy-back clauses etc

Max Watters (Cardiff) £250k

Morgan Whittaker (Swansea) £600k

Charlie Hughes (Wigan) 250k plus add-ons

Jay Matete (Sunderland) £200k plus add-ons

All names/fees plucked from my backside. Any resemblance to reality is purely coincidental

One plucked from nowhere, Luke Armstrong - Harrogate Town 6ft Centre forward, 16 goals, 6 assists this season probably about 350 - 500k.
 
Alfie May - Striker, 700k

Elliott Watt - Central midfielder, 800k

Jordan Graham - Winger, free

Harlee Dean, Centre back, free

Taylor Moore, Centre back, free

Add-in some younger players and prem academy loans, and we'd have a very strong squad

Realistically, I think the upper limit for us is going to be ~£500k per player, any more and the player is going to want wages that are well beyond what we'll be willing to pay in L1.
 
Whatever money we may receive for Jerry, the only fantasy is to believe it will all be spent on replacements unfortunately.
 
Surely the Cods will be doing a bring and buy sale? Bring a nail file for Pilley, get a choice of their players at knock down, going into administration prices!

As said before not necessarily, if it's another league 1 player who's highly rated, someone from Scotland or abroad, or even a highly rated talent in the league below. A million isn't a lot in today's market.

All depends how ambitious we are.

But I'd imagine we'd get more for a lesser amount.

If we can recreate what we did last time getting Jerry and others in for relatively low amounts, but with a bit higher a budget this time, we could do better if it comes off.

A million is a fair chunk in the Championship, in League 1 it's virtually unheard of.

On wages, I could be wrong, but I can't see anyone worth that sort of money being willing to sign for any less than £10,000 p/w and I just can't see the club being willing to pay that.

It depends if we lured a good prospect away from a decent league 1 club, highly rated with some time on their contract it could take that much.

If they were on 6k and we're offering 9k, using the JY money to a degree to help offset wages, it could happen.

But it probably will be smaller amounts if he does go.
