T'rovers were the first team i saw at Bloomfield Rd, Bryan Douglas played in that game. Happy days.Bryan Douglas t'Rovers & England.
When I was eleven we moved to Gt Harwood. Funny, I don't remember doing anything wrong? My dad worked on Saturday so we never went to Blackpool for years. Eventually we moved to Blackburn (God I must have been really bad) and so ended up going to Ewood with my school mates. Rovers had a decent side then Newton. Clayton, Pickering etc but little Bryan Douglas caught my eye. Tiny man, with twinkling feet, pacy dribbler.
Indeed. When all the players were on ten quid a week and used BrylcreamT'rovers were the first team i saw at Bloomfield Rd, Bryan Douglas played in that game. Happy days.
Beat me to it!Jimmy (Jinky) Johnstone
In a home international, Scotland v England (or vice versa) he tore The England right back - Terry Cooper - to shreds. I think it ended nil-nil. However the Mirror's cartoon the following day was of Cooper spinning like a top.Beat me to it!
Wouldn’t argue with that, loved Pele and all the Brazilian players in the 60’s, mesmerising football to watch, so different to what we were watching at home. Couldn’t wait to see Best on MOTD back then, alas he pissed away what should have been a phenomenal career.Anybody who played for Brazil and George Best.
Watch his YouTube highlights playing for Monaco, some sublime stuffGlenn Hoddle, slagged off for not getting stuck in enough on the mudheaps of the 70s & 80s, what would he of been like on today's pristine carpets?.
Snap.Kevin Keegan
Quite agree, T-S. Up there with the rest of the footballing gods that were a part of that phenomenal Brazil team.Rivellino !
