Your household energy bill.

Apologies first to all who are sorted and “happy?” with their energy supplier!
I’ve now reached the point of choosing my supplier, so I hope this is helpful to any of you.

1. If you start your search via a search engine, you may well find that you are directed to E.On. How do they get top billing? They aren’t the cheapest. They will quote for electric (the larger part of energy for most households) and gas separately and, if you are a nuisance, the cable/piping transfer.
As I am between houses at the moment, E.On refused to quote me for my potential new home until I am in the new home. However, I read it as - refused to quote until I agreed to be a customer. Cuts out the comparison, eh?

When I moved out of my beloved ‘Stony Hill’, I informed E.On and did the appropriate meter reading for them and closed the account. They then returned my overpayment (promptly, I’ll give them that). If I had remained, I estimate that I would have overpaid them £300+ for the twelve month period. If that is the same for some of you, it’s probably an amount you could really use.

2. As it stands now, I am anticipating going with ‘Bulb’ who came out best in my research….as of right now.

3. I’ve also realised that I’ve been lazy by allowing myself to pay a fixed amount by standing order. Get a smart meter (I’ve got one from each of my last two suppliers) and agree on a date with your supplier to pay for exactly what you have used. They don’t like it and will try to put you off but you are within your rights to pay for what you’ve used.

Good luck to you all.

Bulb are in special administration. They're still trading but they are being financially supported by the Government.

Bulb and all the other suppliers who have failed cost each one of us £34.36 in extra charges due to the Supplier of last resort (SoLR) payment scheme…they calculate this could rise to £90 per household…
Similar happens with car ins etc…all uninsured losses are passed onto all our premiums…
Companies don’t just suck up losses, they spread it out between their customers.
