Your most annoying Postponed Game

Yep, remember the Hereford game in the fog,

Blackpool Borough were playing in a semi-final of the John Player Trophy at the same time down the road. Possibly the only cup semi we ever played in. I went to the football, it didn’t finish but the rugby league game did finish in glorious victory for the Borough. Picked the wrong game....

Plymouth late 60’s called off after we passed Exeter

Funny to see us with a postponed game tonight. So what has been your most annoying. Was it Burnley we were due to play one Boxing Day which got postponed?
Until last few years was The Man U game but more recently was Accy away had tickets etc and it was the first game I think since the Oyscums lost control so with that being off everything switched to the Southend home game which I was in America so missed that one as well !!

The will it won’t it be on game that was called off against Man Utd. Frozen pitch, oystons feeble attempts to thaw it out with patio heaters & some blowers with pipes stood on beer crates. ** embarrassing when they could have hired a dome with blowers. Fucked our plans right up.
Might well have cost them another year in the Prem, more money lining their pockets, a costly case with O's and their livelihoods and futures .. ahh the Ghost of Christmas past is an evil bitch eh Karl!

The Big Freeze in 1962/63 was a very bad time to be Pool supporter, we didn’t play a home match after Dec 15th until early in March. The FA 3rd round match v Norwich away on 5th Jan was postponed 11 times before eventually getting played on 3rd March. I booked to go on the coach to Norwich for the game on 5th Jan but had given up on the idea of going long before the match was eventually played as the postponements were usually announced late on the actual day of the match.

I remember that one, there was a picture of the fog in a programme a game or two later, if remember I'll have a look and see if I've still got it and will scan the photo.

I've got that programme. I think it shows Derek Spence on the attack, but you can't make out much more. I'll see if I can dig it out after Xmas. I'm away at the moment.

Played Oldham at home about 15 years ago on Boxing Day. Went despite protests from my Mrs, got to Preston, from Newcastle, to hear it had been called off. Had to go home and eat humble pie.
