Your Scottish side?

I had to go to one of our regional offices in Falkirk to train up several new staff members.
From my accommodation to the office (Calendar Business Park) I passed Falkirk's two sided ground.
Would have been about 20 years ago, the similarity to our ground at that time was remarkable.
Often looked out for their score after that.

One of my grandfathers was from Edinburgh, but he was as tight as a ducks arse so I never bothered with Hibs or Hearts.

Annan athletic went to one of their games couple of seasons ago with a Seasiders pal got talking to their chairman was treated verry well and now always look for their score in the Sunday papers it's a great little ground

Was on a golf trip to Carnoustie, and one morning before we played the Championship course, we nipped up to Arbroath to get some smokies from the harbour. We went past the ground and climbed over the wall and had a kick about. It was around 6.30 in the morning. Does that count for the grounds I've done 😉
We couldn't find any smokies in the morning

Dundee, has been for two decades. Have a soft spot for East Fife as my uncle was relocated there for work in the 70s and stayed for 30 years. Bit grim mind you.

Cowdenbeath.
My grandad had a trial in the 20s, according to family fokelore.
Bizarrely ended up at the same hotel in Croatia as their manager during the 1990 world cup, and ended up watching it with him.

Edinburgh City (previously known as Ferranti then Meadowbank Thistle).
They currently ground share with The Spartans who play 5 mins from where I stay and watch them on a semi-regular basis. They return to a brand new Meadowbank Stadium very soon. They have a goon squad of about 12 lads who sing all game and are absolutely crazy in the best sense. Never any trouble just support the Team and have a great time.
Sounds good, that’s what football is all about, love it, pity only 12 bonkers lads singing all game I reckon pne have double that

When me and a mate were about 8 or 9 (some years ago), we each decided to pick a Scottish team to support. We chose the two sides bottom of what was the Second Division from Soccer Star - Berwick Rangers (as my Nanna lived in Berwick Road) and he chose Brechin City. As both are now either in the Highland or Lowland League I’ve switched to Queen of the South and he’s Airdrie.

St Johnstone, only because years ago I spent hours looking on the map for a place called St Johnstone with no luck. I went to Perth about 10 years ago and parked next to Tesco,s in Perth there was a sign St Johnstone’s. If I go to Perthshire for a week in winter now I go if they are playing at home.
The only League club in Britain with a letter J in its name.

Peterhead…..no idea why
Used to follow Gretna when they flew up the leagues and I’m sure they had the good doctor that banged in goals left right and centre

Falkirk won 5-1 tonight if any of you “bairns “ out there don’t know- drove

fair weather supporters- I’ve just driven up to Falkirk to watch them in the Scottish cup 5-1 win and it’s a long way from kirkham, I’m knackered but it was worth it
That’s all just happened in my head though- I would have liked it to be true

Dundee United - my dad was in the RAF mid 70's and he was posted to Leuchars (near St Andrews) so we went to Dundee to watch a game as it was closest biggish town and it happened that United were the home team that Saturday - we were waiting at the turnstiles for ages so my dad asked a passer-by when the gates would open and he said "when the pies arrive mate" - sure enough 10 mins later van arrived with the pies and the gates opened 😀
wonder if it's still the same..............

Took a small interest in Dunfermline after George Farm went to manage there. And he did rather well.

Actually went to a night game there in late seventies when working in Edinburgh. Was a pre season friendly with Celtic and was Kenny Dalglish's last game for Celtic before he moved south. Think Celtic won in front of a decent gate. Mostly Glaswegians.

Remember we played Raith Rovers in the 90's and spoke to some of their fans and players and enjoyed their company and just started following them from then on. Even went to see them once.

Based on Family ties it ought to be Rangers… I can’t be arsed with the sectarian bullshit that goes with them though…

If I was forced to choose a Scottish Team I’d probably go with Newcastle United 👍

Somebody posted the title of a book on here, which I can't remember, but it was about lower league clubs. There was a chapter on Blackpool which was why I bought it, but within the book was a chapter on Queens park. What an incredible club. They only went professional last year, not because they wanted to but because they couldnt compete. All their best players went to clubs who would pay. Andy Robertson of Liverpool started with them. They also were the team to first invent the idea of passing. Before that all payers chased the ball like hounds after a fox. Top European clubs came to learn from them. They were forced to sell Hamden because the scottish fA threatened to move internationals to another venue and without the income they could not maintain the ground. All along they have been bullied into changing their beliefs and principals. After reading the book I contacted the club to tell them how much I had enjoyed reading about them. In response they sent me a load of literature about them and invited me to go and watch a game. This is a club with principles which deserves lots of admiration. They've certainly got mine.

Queen of the South. Born in Dumfries, was a season ticket holder as a teenager & was until i left in 1995 to move to Blackpool, lived in Blackpool 20 years, season ticket holder many years & now living in Costa Blanca, Spain

Brilliant that 👍

One of the things I like to do is watch Scottish football but pretend that the Old Firm don't exist. If you do that, it's an amazingly competitive league. Teams like hibs and Hearts going down, coming back up competing, going down again, Kilmarnock coming third (winning the league by my rules) and then getting relegated. Dundee United going down, coming back up etc. Two cups for St Johnstone. That was mental and I didn't even have to delete the Glasgow giants.

It's a lot of fun if you pretend the top two aren't there.
