YOUTH DEVELOPMENT WEEK | CIARAN DONNELLY: INTERVIEW.

Sorry hadn't seen this specific thread so it's duplicated on the thread about Youth Development.
Ciaran is a very sensible young man and I think the Academy is in very capable hands.
Its an excellent interview and worthy of two threads.

He’s a fantastic lad is Ciaran and that was a great interview and not an ‘Erm’ in sight, which should go down well with the speech police. 👍

Worth a listen this @Martonmosser as CD explains a bit about how they’ve pretty much had to start from scratch and that results will take time…

It was a bland piece of waffle that just summed up obvious procedures at virtually any football league club. He also continues to spout the garbage, in my opinion, that youth football is not about results but but about individual development. A winning team generates good football habits and gives players the confidence to reach their true potential. A losing team retards player development and saps confidence - see this year's youth team for example Eardley should be taken to task for some of the under-18 performances this season.

A worrying factor to me is that we are producing no more quality players than we did under the Oystons who left 5 years ago!I f the situation remains the same in two years, then Donnelly's position should be looked at.

Sadly you haven't a clue.

Wow. So on day one, Sadler would have to have found a pretty big intake of players between 12-14, then have all facilities and top coaches in place to develop them, and then be in a position to push them in to the first team. Surprising the whole team aren’t youth players, isn’t it?

Top quality trolling right here. 👍

Caught up with this the other day, nice to have the update.

People need to take a longer term view with stuff like this given the time to get things into place, starting from virtually nothing, it takes time for kids to progress through the levels and also covid etc slowed all that down by a year or 2.

So it hasn't actually been that long at all.
