After 52mins Accy are losing 2-0 at home to Salford City.
Anything other than a win for Accy today means that our U18s are North West Alliance League Champions and tomorrow's match against The Nobbers will just be a celebration that will hopefully see our youngsters awarded the trophy.

Here's bit more on today's action.
It sounds a bit of a mash up.
60mins against Newcastle (Category 1 Academy) ending 1-1 followed by 30mins against South Shields winning 1-0.
The u18s league campaign starts on the morning of 5 August at home (no idea where "home" is yet) against Walsall.
No Cods in our league this season, so that's 6 easy points we are missing, as they now have Category 2 status courtesy of the facilities at Poolfoot.

I love that. They won narrowly so it was a 'strong' Blackpool side they faced. In what way was it 'strong' I wonder.

It was Blackpool. Obviously. And they'll remember us beating them 3-0 in the FA youth cup a couple of years ago no doubt.

It certainly wasn't our strongest side bearing in mind Lankshear, Apter, Mariette, Moore and Holmes all featured in the 1st team matches.
 
The Development Squad played Liverpool and the quote about facing a "strong Blackpool side" came from Liverpool.
 
Good to have a thread on how our academy teams are doing, and these lads were front runners all season. Loads of 1-0 and 2-0 type wins, stuffing others teams by 3 or 4, even scoring 7. They were beaten twice by a good margin then straight back in to good draws and wins. Google their league, I hope our first team get close to this title winning form!
 
Jake Daniels seems to have disappeared again - saw him a couple of times the season before last and was impressed. Didn’t play much last season and I’ve not had chance to see the side this season but hope he returns to form.
 
Dobbie pleased with the dev squad performance against Liverpool...

"We played Liverpool earlier in the week behind-closed doors and lost 2-1 but the performance was great and we matched them so that bodes well for what will hopefully be an exciting season."

On the couple of occasions I've watched the Development Squad this season Jake has played (most recently Marine) and hebwas in the squad for Clitheroe. Don't know about this week though so I'm not sure if you have anymore current information. Let's see if he plays tonight.
 
Insider, is it possible that you could update us on which youth players were not retained at the end of last season? Many thanks if you can.
 
From memory that will be Archie Cunningham, Bobby Bjork, Luke Byron and Kron Abdiou. They were all 2nd years who weren't offered pro-deals. I can't tell you if any if last seasons first year scholars have moved on.
The u18s are playing at Leicester today. That will be a good test.

Any team news anywhere.
Just interested if any of the new signings make the team ie the young Belfast lad for a start.

I think the Irish lad was playing but pre-season for the Youth team is top secret. I'll get a bit more information next Saturday when the season starts. First game is "home" to Walsall. "Home" will be split this season between Longridge and Bamber Bridge.
