New What we all watching / recommendations thread?

If you enjoy documentaries, 5 episodes of Once Upon a Time in Northern Ireland, BBC iplayer is an absolute must. Hard to watch and listen to at times, but gives a great insight into " The Troubles " from both sides.

White House Plumbers on Now/Sky. Woody Harrelson/Justin Theroux. Light hearted (for the most part) dramatisation of the Watergate scandal.

Give the new Alan Carr sitcom a go 'Coming Out' .. features Graham Carr (although played by an actor). Actually very funny and the young lad that plays Alan is hilarious.

After the recommendations on here we have been watching Once upon a time in Northern Ireland series/documentary as I never really understood in depth what was happening, have to say it has been rally enlightening and pretty harrowing too. So another recommendation for it if you haven't seen it yet.

Also, eventually finished Blue Lights which I forgot I’d started. Really good drama. Another one that made me cry!

BBC iplayer 👍

Just got around to this. Found it quite emotional to be honest. And they seem like a lovely couple.
He had a crap upbringing by the sound of it 😕
I cannot remember the stats exactly but I was staggered by the fact they showed that most people with addiction issues come from broken homes.

I think it was something like 40% to 70% more likely to have addiction issues if there was trauma in your childhood 😕 something like that.

Tour de France- Unchained, docu series on Netflix. If you like your cycling it gives a great insight behind the scenes of the the teams and riders.

Watching the thief, his wife and the canoe again on ITV. True, incredible story and of particular interest because Eddie Marsan, who plays the thief, John Darwin, is married to one of my eldest friends, good looking girl as well, can’t imagine why she married Eddie. On Friday the real story is told and the insurance investigator is John Saunders, whose daughter is a friend of my youngest daughter and I knew him well when we lived in Windsor.

Season 3 of Righteous Gemstones starts on Monday on Sky. If you haven't watched the first 2 you really should. Brilliant black humour take of the Evangelical, big money preachers, it's just ace. John Goodman stars and this could easily be a Cohen Brothers production.

New Celeb Gogglebox was decent last night - who'd have thought Chris Packham would be so entertaining!

Just watched "A Wright Family Holiday" on the BBC IPlayer.

TV celeb, radio DJ, actor, and part time footballer Mark Wright (who I always thought a bit of a knob), his football playing brother Josh Wright and their dad Mark Senior travelling on a boys holiday round Britain. I don't know why I put it on but just watched all 5 episodes (each 30 mins) in one go. A really nice bit of television.

Really fun to watch and some seriously poignant moments and discussions in there that made me (anyway) think about my relationships with my brother and dad.

Well worth a watch. Don't even know why I watched it and ended up loving it.

Just finished Class of 09....Great start, really interesting take on the future of crime and AI....But what a totally s##t ending.
Walking Dead. Dead City.........This is an abomination of a TV series......It's so bad, I feel sorry for the Zombies.
Secret Invasion......Brilliant 1st episode, only 6 episodes long but this is going to be very good.
The Bear (series 2).....Loved the first series, already on episode 2 and it's as good.....slow burner but excellent.
Mayans....I think this is the last series and it's going to go out with drugs, guns, bodies and mayhem..
I'm a Virgo.....13 foot tall giant....and he's black....very strange but good

I also sat through the whole of "Beau is Afraid"........Only do this if you don't have any pins to stick in your eyes....or suffer from insomnia....

On a second viewing of Spiderman...Across the Spider-Verse...Excellent, the best thing Marvel have done since the last movie....well worth watching

"The Bromley Boys" A film recently put on Netflix. It's set in the early 70's, a comedy about a football mad boy growing up supporting a rundown Bromley FC at the bottom of the Isthmian league. My local team who I watch sometimes,
Things are a lot better now- they're in the National league! Nostalgic and funny.

Almost at the end of 2 excellent series...... American Rust & Dope Sick........Both really worth watching.

My best movies so far:
The Power of The Dog....... Guaranteed Oscar for Benedict Cumberbatch & it's a jane Campion movie
Dear Even Hanson.....OK, it's teen suicide with songs...but it's well worth watching, if you hear the tap, tap, tapping (sorry, it's an in joke)

If you do have a spare 90mins, watch a movie called PIG with Nicolas Cage.....so wrong, it's right....
2021 has proved to be the year for the worst movies ever made
Pig is good. Especially when he tells his former employee who he is and who he is not.
