OLD PICTURES OF BLACKPOOL FC

BLACKPOOL v STOKE CITY 1966-67 programme | eBay

Came across this the other day,is the club house the old training ground wooden building.
Must have almost backed on to SAOL.

Old links founded in 1901,dont know the history, wether it started out 9 holes but I would think they were nearly next to each other. Quite a lot of courses along the Fylde coast back then.

Borough Park Princess street

Leaving the old greyhound stadium was a sad moment for me.The Borough were my first choice in my junior school days perhaps because we lived in Belvere Avenue and therefore easy to get too.
We often used to get in free and occasionally man the score board where you had black wooden slates with the numbers on.Keeping track of the score sometimes proved difficult against the likes of Wigan and St.Helens who Would usually run in cricket scores.
The chairman’s son was at Arnold junior school and we were friends so we also got a chance to mingle with the players. One of the sons sadly got knocked down and killed on Lytham Road one lunch time.
The move to Rigby Road meant being close to the football ground so Especially in the winter months you could watch the Rugby then cross over to BR as KO was usually an hour or half an hour ahead of the football. The Gates by then would Usually be open and you could walk in for free to watch the football though it would normally be the Reserves.
It was the start of my full transition to the football on a regular basis though my Dad would take me to home and the occasional away games before then.

great post

thanks for sharing those memories 👍

I've got what I would describe as a "collectors hoard" of match programmes. I was given them for free at the end of an auction many years ago. I'll photograph some of them. They came in a box in order.

Given them. That fits seeing as you never been to a game pre 2010 and very few (if any) since.

Got this big box of programmes given to me by the auctioneer as I said I was a Blackpool fan. Never really opened it properly. Looks like every programme plus others since 1970

havent looked through all the pages but photos of the east with seats (not gene kelly) always amaze me

Yeah Stan. Me as well. I think my first ever game towards the end of the 75/6 season, I sat in there. Can't remember much but seem to remember vaguely facing the West so it mustve been. Think they were crap bucket type plastic seats much worse than those in the South or the wooden ones in the West. They were quickly got rid of after one season.

That's how I remember them Potts. I was a kid but for anyone with a fat arse they must have been really uncomfortable. Plus full of rain water most of the time.

Still the best thread on this new site.

None of the usual moaning and abuse from the political fanatics in sight! In fact, you don’t even see them on this thread!

Really enjoyable read 👍🏻

You are as dull as a broken record posting the same nonsense every time you post.
