The Most Boring Sportsman ever?

wouldn't agree with any of the 3 posted so far. Just because you're the best or one of the best in your chosen sport doesn't mean your boring and I'm not sure how some-one so controversial like Djokovic is could ever be classed as boring. It's a good question though, not got an answer yet.

Not only is Murray boring but he's also a haggis basher.

In my opinion AS is a very good pundit. He puts his case over very well and. He was a top player and now a top pundit.

Probably thousands of boring sports stars out there but because they're never successful they don't get a microphone stuck in their face. I always found Nigel Mansell pretty boring but his fans probably doted on his every word. Andy Murray won me over when they interviewed him during the US Open back in 2010. They asked him what he'd be doing over there when not on court. He said he'd be watching Blackpool as he loved the football we played under Holloway.

As much as I loved him I have to say Nigel Mansell. I got to meet him a few years back at an event at Bloomfield Road. He was just sat at his table with his wife doing card tricks for her looking as miserable as anything.
thought he came out of the recent documentary about him on sky really well

Haven’t actually seen that yet Shootz although I’ve got it saved ready to watch. He was genuinely one of my sporting idols, still is to be honest but he rarely came across well in interviews. I was happy for him to do his talking out on the track though.

It's a great question and debate, so let me ask. What element of them being boring are we considering?

Their actual personality (as perceived, because we don't actually know them in 99.99% of cases). Or the way they approach their sport?

Andy Murray is far from boring and anyone who thinks he is obviously doesn’t know much about him or tennis.

Nigel Mansell was the possibly the most boring to hear speak ever but he may well be ok in reality.

I find rugby players quite boring but then I think egg chasing is as dull as fuck anyway.

Gary Lineaker is also dull as dish water, I was horrified when he got the match of the day gig and haven’t really watched since, when he finally fucks off I may give it another chance.

Ian Botham - only 68 and doing tired leg and feet ads on tv..Didn't he try to make it in Hollywood touted as the new Errol Flynn 😆

Snooker's Steve Davis
Great bloke, played golf with him a few years ago just the two of us. He was coached by Frank Callan from the Fyldecoast who I knew well so we had a good chat about Frank and I ended up giving him a golf lesson and he gave me a snooker lesson in the men’s bar at our golf club. Very funny, witty man, enjoyed his company.

Almost all of them.

Very few i'd describe as interesting, Cantona is up there, will never forget him being faced down by a group of simpering journalists and after minutes of silence responding "the seagulls, they follow the trawler because they know it will drop fish" or words to that effect.

I suppose the extremes Dennis Bergkamp went to avoid flying was quite intriguing to me. Erm, Nick Faldo's notorious bastardry, Ronnie O'Sullivan is definitely a fascinating character but they're few and far between.

I think it's similar to a beautiful woman not necessarily needing to develop a captivating personality since they achieve their goals without it.

Who's that irritating ManU supporting southern Mick Jagger attempting to sound alike dullard who took over from Durham on the Talksport drive show? He sets new standards for boringness?
