The Bolton game at Home

The current temporary stand is inadequetely designed to fully accommodate away fans in terms of access/egress and welfare facilities (i.e. refreshments and toilets)

Plus I personally wouldn't want 4,000 away fans in a 14-15,000 crowd.

Every season we don't have a fully functioning new East stand is another season that we lose out on 100s of thousands that would improve our ability to compete at the top end with the likes of Bolton and Portsmouth.
These things take time but the sooner we get it done the better. Whichever way you do it with away allocation, the Bolton game would be a 16k crowd with a finished stadium, and as it is it probably won't reach 13k. That's a lot of money to miss out on in league one.

When the 'permanent' East is built I would assume it will be easier to segregate based upon home/away demand, i.e. 13,000 Seasiders and 3,000 away fans.

Let's see where we are and how sales go, if we can sell out the 3 sides we take it it, if not let them have it.

Time to stop making excuses and win home games and silence away fans.

The ground capacity when the new East is built seems shrouded in mystery but if its not 20k then its a missed opportunity and I just don't get it. If your going to do it do it properly. Games like yesterday and the one on Friday show what's needed and if its not going to up the capacity it will always make us the poor relations. Incentives to increase home support and proper allocations for away fans with big atmospheres.

Talking about giving away followings too many, I'm just watching a bit of Livingston v Rangers on TV. They've given Rangers 3 sides of the ground. Scottish football is ridiculous. Oh and of course Rangers are winning.

Why it was OK last season for those with big away followings?
Outdoor bar and plenty of portaloos in the North East.

Put our tickets on sale early straight after Christmas and if we haven't sold out our three sides 2 weeks before the game sell them to Bolton.
Bonkers that you would throw up to 50k down the toilet.

Bristol Rovers look to be getting a new stand. Saw it on one the highlights programmes. looks half decent. Wrexham have been refused permission for a six hundred seat stand on enviromental grounds . Not sure what exactly but the local council seem pretty sure its not going ahead in its current form. And the Bramley dock everton stadium. JEEZ that is another level. . JUST want ours up ASAP.

Think Wrexham was a 6 thousand one to replace the Kop. They were after a grant to help fund it but was turned down in a political move. Now looking at other ways to fund it.

Gonna be the same as it is now according to Simon at the last structured dialogue meeting

Well that’s simply not big enough imo, I agree with PNENIL that it will be a missed opportunity if the club don’t up the capacity with this new stand.
Costs are too high for the projected return he said. Wasn’t something I could really argue with when he’s the one putting his money where his mouth is 👍🏼

Hmmm, fair I suppose.

I realise it’s easy for others like myself to spend SS money on a dream two tier stand for us.

I saw a thread about plans for it the other day, I asked for a link but one didn’t materialise, I searched the gazette but couldn’t find it, can anyone help?

Not sure if it has been mentioned elsewhere, but the respect shown by all fans for the respectful silence was observed immaculately.
This has been said on lots of threads and while it’s definitely true is it also not the bare minimum to observe the silence in a respectful way?

Well he should look for other outside funding then.
It limits us in so many ways and guarantees we will always be the smallest of the four Lancashire clubs for years to come. Trying to compete in the Championship long term with a 16 k stadium? Just makes us another Rotherham.

I thought it was already being funded or partly, crazy not to take the capacity up to at least 20000

20 k is just perfect for us. Anything less is a fudge.
I go back to the Southend game where we sold 15 k. That was stretching our limit that probably would only be surpassed if we were in the prem again. So that still gives another 5k to away support or if we weren't doing so well opportunities to grow the fanbase with incentives etc. It still doesn't dilute the atmosphere so much that happens at Pne, Rovers and Burnley who have even bigger capacities.
Got to be 20k or otherwise don't bother. It sums us up as a club really...there but not quite there.

Outside funding as new investors good luck with that(Sadler had already said he'd be willing to talk to anyone).
Loans?

We've a wealthy owner not class A mega rich one who is already 18 million down the pan and willing to put more in and if that's a 16k stadia because that's all we can afford so be it.
I'd love 20k but I'm not the one paying for it.

I don't get why people want Bolton to have a full away end. They will come in numbers and be in party atmosphere. They are probably our main rival in this league, why would you want to give them a bigger advantage support wise.

Nothing annoys me more than when I see that end loud, singing and in party mode, particularly when we are losing, as we did so frequently in the championship when it was full. It's a depressing watch.

Agree with all the above, but also with the fact that it is easy for us to spend SS' money!

The fault lies with the parasitic Oystain dynasty, leaving is with a basic 3 sided stadium that barely holds 11,000; that showed a distinct lack of ambition when you consider back in the 80's Catweasel was proposing to build a 40k Coliseum!

What do you want us to do become another Fleetwood and stick a few hundred in the corner?
I want big atmospheres, proper away support so you can enjoy it when we win. That's what it's all about.
I remember the late 70s early 80s. You would live for big away support on the Kop to make it a big game and pick out those fixtures. Not cower because it might give us a disadvantage.

I'm loathe to defend them but they could easily have built 4 stands and made us another Scunthorpe. Instead they built 2 decent stands but wouldn't budge any further till VB intervened. At least it gave us some scope. I do think the South should have been as big as the North , another there but not quite there.

We only average 9,000 in the home end.
Depending what division we are in (we are a yoyo club with fickle fans) not many away clubs bring a big following.
And the chances of us reaching the prem are slim where the ground would be full all season.

I had no problem with the phased re-development of BR but the parasites first priority was not the stands but the pre-lets.

Look at the Norths 'concourse;' its a ferkin corridor and totally unfit for purpose!

The average attendance in the 80s was about 3000 and about 7000 in the 70s

Compare that with when we played Wigan last year and they interrupted the minutes silence. Over 20k in that ground and you could hear a pin drop yesterday.
