Finnigan Signs.

I hope he or anyone else does well but he is not what we need right now. We need match fit, proven at this level and preferably tall and strong who can improve our team now and get us in a playoff position which we’ve been close to all season. Nothing else important right now.
So what you are saying is that the club should not be planning for the future and should only be sourcing players that immediately impact the first team.

Thank fuck you don't run the club.

Possible Chant alert to the tune of Michael Finnigan

There was a young lad called Ryan Finnigan, and he’s better than David Linighan, when we play Preston we’ll surely win again cos we’ve got Finnigan Finnigan
great stuff. just thinking of that one just now. yes future prospects is what its about.

Have you ever seen him play?
Have you? Don't have to watch an entire player's lexicon of highlights to determine if they are a decent signing or not.

He is coming from one of the best academies in the entire world and statistical was very good for Crewe in League 2 (their fans confirm this too) last year.

Lots of positives to see with this player.

“Good signing and may even contribute this season”. If you want to play find the ass look in a mirror. If he doesn’t help us get promoted this season he’s not serving our primary purpose.
"May" lmfao. All I've said is that there's a chance he contributes, not that he absolutely fulfills our needs this season.

A signing can still be good if they don't absolutely, immediately fulfill our needs.

We already have tonnes of players in development. For the club to progress on all counts promotion is our priority. If you know you know and it is very apparent you don’t know.

I was asking if you have seen him play I wasn't asking for a diatribe of heresay

Where does he play what type of player is he what role would he perform for the team and in our system?

Is that your long winded way of saying you haven’t seen him play?….waits patiently as you scurry off to You Tube to search for him.

In an interview today Critchley said any signing would have to better than we already have but that any signing would find it difficult to get into the team. Contradictory ?
Presumably he'll say Finnegan is not match fit etc.
He’s not as injured as some of our other players. It’s a flesh wound not a hammy. :)

Was pissed off yesterday when it was suggested this would be a loan signing, which would have made zero sense. Could work as a permanent though. One for the development squad I would have thought. At least to get his fitness back.
Still need a mid who is ready to impact the first team immediately.

Come on then Mr ITK. Tell us all about this " dithering behind the scenes" that you talk of. Give us some verifiable facts. Show us wjay you know, big man.
Has my wife been talking? I was born that way so can’t take credit. Dithering means we waste time on unimportant minutiae instead of focusing on the bigger picture and getting things done. Ours is compounded by people not wanting to repeat costly mistakes and mistakes made did have a substantial financial cost. It also means your competitors eat your lunch. Always look at actions over words.

I'd love for us to get aproven league 1 player that's going to give us the push to promotion that we all know we need, but it's obvious that we don't have the cash for that type of player. So we have to deal with what we can get. I'm hoping the lad gets fit and smashes it for us, it's all I can do right now.

So what type of player is he?

Is he hard working, is he a tough tackler type, is he creative, does he score goals, etc etc

Come on tell us all what he is
He's a central midfield player who did well on his loan spell at Crewe. This is where Critchley probably became aware of him and his potential. There's a risk with any transfer he may turn out to be a "Jensen Weir" or he may be another "Albie Morgan". Who knows? We will just have to wait and see.

Unimportant minutae like building a squad for the future?

The rest of your message is gobbledygook that reads like it was lifted from the David Brent book of unintelligible corporate bullshit.

We can and we should because if we don’t get promoted this season we will take two big steps backward. We have the nucleus of a good squad and team right now but failure to get promotion will ensure players leave and another year goes by with no progress on the training ground.

I'm fine with that

But when we have a bloke who lives thousands of miles away on another continent who hasn't even seen an English professional football match live telling us what a player he will be forgive me for being a bit cynical

Where's the money coming from? Pompey beat us to Moxon for £250k. The training ground is already on the back burner, Sadler said that last year. So if you can come up with the money then brilliant.

Have Bolton and Portsmouth taken a big step backwards after failing to go up last season?

It’s not helping you can’t answer a straight question with a straight answer or own you talked out of your rear end?
Just because you post words doesn't mean that they are coherent or true.

I've said he's a good signing because he's young, from a good academy, played well for Crewe (based on reviews from their fans and his statistics). He plays as a box to box midfielder who will likely be a deputy to Norburn (which should have been inferred when I said he was an 8).

You and @Phil_bfc deux are outraged because I'm not a ** expert on this player jfc go outside.

Sorry you are jealous. It’s not a quality that will bring joy to your life. Focus on self improvement and strive to be an original not a copy.

He's played 3 games in a year and has never started a competitive match at this level yet you are somehow telling us he's going to be like Luka Modric or Jordan Henderson

oh and Norburn doesn't play as a box to box midfielder
