I don’t think I was alone in hoping for, but not necessarily expecting, an immediate return. But I and I think many others are very disappointed in, the performance of both the team and especially the manager, away from Bloomers. I didn’t want Critchley back, which has been obvious from many of my posts, that didn’t cloud my judgement nor detract from my expectations for a decent season. I support the club and, begrudgingly, Sadlers choice of manager. My illusions, I’m afraid have been shattered and my worst fears realised. Critchley according to people who should know is a very good coach, as many have said he isn’t a manager. He still thinks he’s coaching Liverpool youngsters, where results aren’t particularly important. His in game management re subs etc is terrible, when he does make his 70 minute subs they are like for like no matter what is happening on the pitch. He desperately needs another Calderwood to replace his clueless yes men. Some who has been there and done it, someone who isn’t afraid to tell him what needs to happen during a game. Someone to teach him how to be proactive and not reactive. It was proven at QPR he isn’t a manager, and it’s being reiterated here. Giving him more time, on his own, won’t work. Is Sadler has any ambition for a reasonably early return to Championship football he should tell Critchley he’s having an experienced assistant, whether he wants one or not. If he doesn’t agree, he’s at liberty to leave.
