Another first half fiasco with our Head Coach yet again not changing anything tactically when we were clearly second best and playing essentially with a flat back 5 and two deep lying midfield players was the last straw for me. Thommo could see exactly what was wrong but our elite coaching team just watched on with Critchley stood there arms folded.
What has been a recurring theme this season is the total intransigence to change the formation or show a bit of imagination. It is football by numbers with the main numbers being 5-2-3, a total lack of passion, players going through the motions or lacking the motivation to take the game to the opposition. This comes entirely from Critchley who has clearly been affected by his dismal time at Villa and his torrid experience at QPR.
In his first spell here he had plenty of ideas, changes of formations, perhaps too many and it was only when Calderwood was brought in that a more pragmatic approach was adopted and performances and results improved. The rest is history a worthy play-off victory and a highly creditable season in the Championship followed and all was looking rosy. Then the abdication......and here we are!
Obviously we need to play the season out but the thought of becoming another mediocre Lg1 club is not what we want or should resign ourselves too.
Step forward Charlie Adam and a bright new future. He has seemingly inspired Fleetwood and given them a fighting chance to escape relegation. A Blackpool legend who played inspirational football and took us to the promised land. He would be a risk but sometimes you have to dare to win. He would start with a huge amount of credit in the bank and has Dobbie already in place! C'mon Simon show some imagination and roll the dice.
