Lancashire Lockdown from Saturday?

According to Lancs Live all of Lancashire other than certain parts of Blackpool are going into local lockdown. No mixing with other households etc 🙈

Almost all of Lancashire is heading into local lockdown

Local lockdown restrictions are coming in across Preston, Lancaster, Wyre, Fylde, Chorley, South Ribble, West Lancashire, Ribble Valley, Blackburn with Darwen, Burnley, Pendle, Hyndburn, and Rossendale

So you can still mix in pubs and restaurants but only with members of your own household?
Cant see that being easy to police 🤨
 
The word lockdown is the biggest joke of all. Was in Bolton today no different to any other day pre pandemic other than one or two people wearing a mask. Hardly a lock down is it? Perhaps if the world sucked it up and imposed a strict lock down for a month it would go rather than this half hearted load of bollox

Seems more like local government asking for it rather than central gov't imposing it.
 
Blackpool probably had the worst of it when we were in the top of the worst hit areas a few months ago, hopefully.
 
Wyre and Fylde Council areas are part of it but Blackpool Council isn't apparently 🤔

Precisely. This is about reducing the risk of it spreading between households because, once it is in a single household, it is to go through it all

Agree, just let’s have the pain and get it over rather than ongoing on/off restrictions.
 
Wonder if our footballers all live together? If not I assume there will be exceptions to the two households rule, otherwise they can’t play.

That is certainly an option and one that has clearly been happening the last couple of months. As a nation of fatties, who struggle to follow basic instructions it might not end well. Sweden on the other hand have a population who are less obese and have benefited from an education system that ensures their population can follow the science and make objective decisions.

I'd like to know which parts of Blackpool are going into lockdown.
I wonder whether it will more affect the locals OR day-trippers and weekend stag/hen do's?
In my mind, us locals will bear the brunt of it, because NOTHING must hurt the economy.

NOTHING must hurt the precious economy.
 
Add Lancashire - with the exception of the Pleasure Beach and the Town Centre and the strip along the illuminations (can’t be seen to affect the sales if light up bands, wands and twirly things sold by men dressed as Bozo The Clown) chuck in Leeds and Liverpool on top of the 10M already affected by lockdown rules and pretty much the whole of Northern England is affected bar Cumbria!

I wonder how people visiting Blackpool are going to get here without passing through a lockdown area?

Will be interesting to see how it’s managed, I live right on the boundary of Blackpool with Wyre just over the road - literally! Anchorsholme Lane forms that Boundary.

We are going to end up with EVERY area under Local lockdown, but it won’t be a National one no siree not National!

A girl I used to work with lives in Bolton. This week on Facebook she has returned from Spain on Friday, been to her mums at the weekend and was out for dinner with 5 friends last night.
 
So it looks like I can go to a pub or restaurant with my daughter and grandchildren, or sit on a bench with them in Blackpool, but I can’t in Cleveleys. Nor can we visit each other’s houses. There’s just no point.

Hey Lancashire, you can all come to Blackpool with your friends and family and have a great time, you know it makes sense 😡

And there lies the problem PB. The outbreak in infections in Bolton was allegedly down to some party animal who came back from Ibiza didn’t bother with quarantine and carried on partying in Bolton in large crowds.

This is what Iv'e been saying for weeks, our infected friends from east Lancs, get round the restrictions by coming here (Here- Gods own Town, The Gold Coast!!).... Grrrr

& THEREIN LIES THE MAIN PROBLEM.
YOU ALWAYS get a significant number of people who cock a snoot at the guidelines. This could be Dominic Cummings (tbh he likely didnt put others at risk but hes still a **) Or 10s of thousands of Sharon's & Danny's on facebook who are likely putting others at risk.
Same with the feckers who refuse to wear masks in shops etc.

I’m sure it’s nothing to do with the illuminations just having been switched on and all the money that will change hands because of this, or the fact there is a government backed small crowds test event organised for the weekend.

I’m sure there is a strong scientific reason for it.

Not withstanding the rights and wrongs of Blackpool being excluded from these new restrictions, I am amazed on reading various social media platforms that many residents of the town don't seem to realise that it is a unitary authority and has no connection to Lancashire County council , so is able to make its own decisions on many matters that it's neighbouring areas can't .
 
Hard lines. Sounds like Lancashire rate payers haven't been being sensible to me 😎

I think it’s highly unlikely an edict from central government can be overridden a unitary authority.

It’s purely a commercial decision which must have been sanctioned by Bozzo and the rest of his clowns!

Ribble valley have the lowest Covid levels, by a street, yet they're included in the lock down.

Strange times?
