Just wondering who elected Carrie? We have left Europe because it's run by an unelected clique...By all accounts the demure Carrie Symonds is fast becoming very influential in our PM’s political stance, very interesting times in the corridors of power. I wonder who is going to occupy No.70 Whitehall now little Cummings and his cardboard box of dirty tricks has departed?
Probably the same people who elected such people as Alastair Campbell, Phillip Gould, Pat Mc Fadden et al for Blair and Damian McBride, Jeremy Heywood, Sue Nye for Brown.Just wondering who elected Carrie? We have left Europe because it's run by an unelected clique...
Advisors have been spinning for those in power since the Egyptians were building cone-shaped cemeteries. Thomas Moore and Thomas Cromwell for Henry VIII, Colbert for Louis XIV and through to Bernard Ingham for Thatch.Probably the same people who elected such people as Alastair Campbell, Phillip Gould, Pat Mc Fadden et al for Blair and Damian McBride, Jeremy Heywood, Sue Nye for Brown.
Every Govt has its non-elected advisors, who seem to have expanded since Blair introduced Spin Doctors.
I have been told there is more to this than meets the eye.....
Apparently there is a book on the way, that’s a tell all from the Brexit campaign right the way through until today that could be very very explosive!!!
Also I am told the book includes quite a bit of personal stuff about Boris, which obviously includes people around him - which he and his Mrs are fuming about as he likes to keep everything private - probably for good reason.
Make of this what you will.
"Also I am told" ?
What are you told, has Boris approached Colin Calderwood regarding an advisory role at No 10 ?
You are told less than any tabloid journalist and therefore nothing that anybody else doesn't know.
What I will make of it, is that in the AVFTT "in the know" stakes you are certainly no Lytham Kev or Mosser.
No offence taken - the reality is though I do know what happened and have a mate who knows Boris and the family VERY well - whatever you believeI don't have issues with your opinions Seaside, I just feel that sometimes you might overplay the "I've been told" card.
Apologies if my reply was overly blunt, it was meant to be more humorous than critical and sorry if it didn't read that way.
Don't forget Kevin Spacey and (was it?) Nigel Hawthorne too.....Advisors have been spinning for those in power since the Egyptians were building cone-shaped cemeteries. Thomas Moore and Thomas Cromwell for Henry VIII, Colbert for Louis XIV and through to Bernard Ingham for Thatch.
Is your mate a corrupt, money laundering liar like the Prime Minister? No offence taken - the reality is though I do know what happened and have a mate who knows Boris and the family VERY well - whatever you believe
It's Vladimir- the Puppet Master.
He is like me, a decent person who runs and owns businesses. Is your mate a corrupt, money laundering liar like the Prime Minister?
What a childish, spiteful comment. Sums you up to a tee.Is your mate a corrupt, money laundering liar like the Prime Minister?
Yes, Minister.Don't forget Kevin Spacey and (was it?) Nigel Hawthorne too.....
I have never said that businesses should not be able to make a profit. What they should not be able to do is make that profit by not paying fair wages, by exploiting workers with punitive working conditions, or by not paying a fair tax on those profits. Supporting the conservatives means supporting a system which encourages all three.
It is a big diversion thoughGlad to see that the government is looking at the bigger picture and focussing on the public health crisis and Brexit deal problems that we are facing.
If you are a decent human being, why would you be close to a nasty, hypocritical, back stabbing liar like Boris Johnson? What a childish, spiteful comment. Sums you up to a tee.
Is that world class working conditions in the same way Boris Johnsons Conservatives have a world class test and trace system?Whats a fair tax on profits when you have previously put your house on the line?
Please take into consideration if you lose your house the government does not bail you out!
You do talk utter rubbish as I support the conservatives (as my mate) where we both pay very fair wages (well above market and the living wage) and offer world class working conditions.
....again the above will not suit your agenda - sorry!!!
You really are bitter aren’t you.Is that world class working conditions in the same way Boris Johnsons Conservatives have a world class test and trace system?
Word class working conditions include....
Everyone on much more than the living wage
Flexible working
The tools they need to do the job
Grade A+ offices
95 ish percent are on perm contracts
The other 5% earn 70quid plus an hour and are short term and specialised
World class training (recognised and certified)
Break out rooms with Xbox, table tennis, pool and snooker
Trips abroad and incentives (well until recently) for anyone over achieving
30 days holiday plus PH plus more can be earned
Decent pension
Private medical
Presents for all employees kids at xmas
Family days (during work time)
I agreeNot everyone who makes money is scum. That would be a ridiculous assertion. No, it is important that private employers pay their employees a decent wage, provide adequate training and development opportunities, pay their
proper and legal NI and pension contributions and recognise and encourage employee union representayion. Also, private businesses should be prepared to (and want to) pay their FAIR share of tax liabilities, provide fair employee H&S conditions and address modern environmental concerns in their trading, then that is good.
In other words, good private employers are good for our country.
I just hope that posters who expressly cheer private business also recognise the need to root out and remove bad private employers.
What a nasty, bitter person you are. You teach kids? God help usIf you are a decent human being, why would you be close to a nasty, hypocritical, back stabbing liar like Boris Johnson?
There are employment laws for the removal of bad employees. What concerns me is the idea of making the removal of employees easier than the benefits to both parties of better training, better understanding by line management of employees potential and adequate arrangements to enable all of that to happen. I don't believe that making it easy to dispense with staff is the right way to go. Often, the individual member of staff Is not the cause of the desire to get rid.I agree
The thing I would add though is that as an employer we need the ability to get rid of bad employees as well.
It can’t be all one way traffic.
I am no real fan of the unions these days, although I appreciate in history they have done incredible things in moving employment law forward.....but it has to be balanced.
As an employer you have to be fair, and we are - to back that argument up - in 25 years I have NEVER been taken to an employee tribunal.
It's really not that difficult to find that on another forum catinstalbans had an emblem of the Communist Party as his avatar. Tells you all you need to know about Cats agenda. I dare say this post will now be reported by some-one to the mods and be deleted. For what? Simply stating a fact. But hey, he tells us he's just a democratic socialist. So who else is a liar and a coward Cat?What a childish, spiteful comment. Sums you up to a tee.
Is it? I found it a while back pretty easily. This is a lie. I have never used a Communist party avatar!
Seasideone, you've moved onto the personal, which is not really where I want to go. However, you must bear in mind that s number of employees will be focussed on their families, their girl/boyfriends, their football teams(!), and not "the values of the business."Most the time we get rid of people is down to attitude!!!
We have a disciplinary process we follow to the letter .... but bad employees need to go.
Why should I pay the salary of someone who can be ruining other people around them - it’s only fair they go and ideally quicker....not just for me but the people they work with.
I call them ‘Mood Hoovers’
We support people who want to learn or need help with loads and loads of training, but I can rarely change someone’s attitude.
If I put someone with a bad attitude into training they tend to ruin it for all.
If you don’t live the values of the business then I want them out yesterday.
No argument and that will never change.
You mistake the difference between motivation and values.Seasideone, you've moved onto the personal, which is not really where I want to go. However, you must bear in mind that s number of employees will be focussed on their families, their girl/boyfriends, their football teams(!), and not "the values of the business."
It's harsh if you want them to share your personal motivations. If they do their jobs well, that's all that should concern you - unless they're highly motivated like yourself, then fine - develop them.
Ah, "if they can't they're history." How very macho, how very peurile, how very unnecessary. You mistake the difference between motivation and values.
A person with a partner and multiple kids can share values even if their motivations are different.
In fairness NOBODY in our business shares the same motivation as that’s personal, but what they do share are the same values - otherwise they are history!!
You also mistake who you can and cannot develop - if you have a great attitude you will develop, if you have a poor one you will not - whatever I do.
I'd like to know where? To be fair I found a CCCP avatar too. I’ll leave Cat to discuss the semantics of whether or not it is an emblem of the Communist Party
One or two people have confused my Civil Rights avatar for the symbol of Black Power
I usually try to educate them
if they do not share the company values- how very necessary!!!Ah, "if they can't they're history." How very macho, how very peurile, how very unnecessary.
I'm glad I don't work for you.if they do not share the company values- how very necessary!!!
The team needs to work together and understand the ground rules - the ground rules are the values.
People only want to work with people who share the same values - if you leave people in the business who do not share the values you ruin it for all.
So yes, they would be history.
I'd like to know where?

I was more taken by the fact that you were arguing with a certain basilrobbiereborn back in 2014
So you have had a communist avatar.Okay. Fair enough.
I do apologise to 20togo. I had long since forgotten. What I would say is that it was not a serious endorsement of Soviet communism.
The policies I espouse are those of a democratic socialist despite any accusations to the contrary.
And for seaside one, a fair tax system is one that allows every member of the population to have a roof over their head and enough food to eat. Both should be fundamental human rights in one of the richest nations in the world, and if it means the wealthy pay more taxes on their profits or their assets then this is just and correct.
Well I have to say you seem to have been impressively anti Oyston back then which should earn you some brownie points.Okay. Fair enough.
