Bristol Rovers v Blackpool Official Matchday Thread 02.01.21

Look '62. You get peoples' backs up and I don't doubt you both know it and engineer it. It would help if you could pick out something positive. We have some good players who Critchley has given the opportunity to play well. Do you not find anything there to say, "let's concentrate on them, with some additions and we might create something.?
He’s the Cat on the footy board 😁👍

I have the courage to say that, at the moment it isnt going to plan.
What I'm not, is a headless chicken that looks to a clean sweep every time a result doesn't go our way.
I thought that being an old man you'd have the sence of being able to see the bigger picture rather than these youngsters that want instant success.
If you want that go and support Man City or another 'big' club.
Instant success will not be coming to Bloomfield Rd but when it eventually does come itll be so much sweeter.

Is it not time for your cocoa yet👴
He’s got way more winding up to do yet.

We did beat Peterborough on their own patch. You didn't really answer the question. Would a team full of nothing but poor players beat three of the top 5?
All teams have their lucky days and 13th in the league tells me they don't have much going for them.

Look at the league table. Why are you so in love with Critchley?
Because we're playing some attractive football. It's not his fault that players are missing sitters. We're a work in progress that will come good. I reckon Critchley has had 22 games to date. If you can justify writing him off after that, I'd hate to wonder what you made of Grayson's second time round.

Having watched and supported Pool since 1957 I've been through all the ups and downs, the good and the bad. I'll tell you now that success will not come during Critchley's tenure.

And they also have their unlucky days, like today.
13th also tells me they have more going for them than many.

We could do this all day. Let's just say that we have a very different viewpoint, and leave it at that.

So you say you've supported Blackpool a long time, if you have then you'll know that this team are far better than some of the dross served up over the years.
Thank god you couldn't get anywhere near a message board then!!

What was unlucky about today? Conceding 2 goals in 2 minutes isn't unlucky, it's bad defending.
Missing chances isn't unlucky, it's poor finishing.
You could say we were lucky to not be beaten by more given they missed a pen and two sitters!

No I had face to face rows with the Oystons and several managers back then.

Agree with u , but , is it we are not scoring enough or is it not creating enough , I seriously can’t make my mind up , is yates not up to this level ,plus you tell me , are you like me ,I cant pick pools first 11 , good teams mould themselves into the first 11 , you can’t drop anyone
We have too many players. The club has recruited too many instead of concentrating on quality.

But by that viewpoint, Peterborough, Hull and Portsmouth were not unlucky against us so therefore we weren't lucky.
You're not being consistent in your arguments.

Why the obsession with 3 games out of 20. What about the 12 out of 20 that we failed to win...were we unlucky.
My argument from day one was the appointing Critchley was a mistake and that the players he brought aren't good enough. I think I've been proved to be correct on both counts.

You're beyond rebuke. You don't merit a decent reply. Consider yourself off my reply list. and I've never done that to anyone. And no, I'm not going to swear or insult you. Grow up, please.

Exactly right. We are struggling badly in the final third, but we absolutely have made progress. Despite a similar league position, I think we're much closer to being able to challenge the top end than we were, although we do still need those missing pieces for that to happen.
No matter what anyone thinks of Critchley, we should never have lost that game today and the fact we did was nothing to do with tactics or lineup.
Sorry am I missing something, if we didn’t lose due to tactics or players enlighten me. Why did we lose?

So having a go at someone's dead mother is fair game.
Yeh fair enough 🤦‍♂️

If you read the communication you will be aware that I had no prior knowledge of that.
Foul tactics on your behalf.

Poor finishing and poor final ball in to the box. Not tactical. You could argue lineup but it was the one I would've gone with to start.

Why the continual dismissal of three excellent results as lucky? We were unlucky in some of those 12 and deserved others.
You haven't been proven correct on either count at all.

Same old with Pool. I assume Critchley thought Yates would score goals, but except for some in league2 he had no pedigree at our level. Too many ordinary players brought in from league2 and out of contract and reserve league players.
Quantity or quality again!

Your defence doesn't stand up. Listen to Critchley's downbeat aftermatch interview. He's run out of ideas and his players are all at sea. 20 goals scored in 20 games...only one team in the league have scored less. That's not unlucky, it's pitiful. Pool are a poor team under a novice coach who is consistently outfoxed by opposition managers. Wake up and smell the coffee!

Too many ordinary forwards. Noone who can really change a game in your favour, especially without Hamilton.
But some good defensive players, hence our decent goals against column and appalling goals for column. Critchley is at fault for the lack of goals, and also credited with the decent defence.
Any manager deserves time I think and he hasn't had enough in my opinion. You may think its pointless giving him that but I disagree. Its all about opinions.

I don't agree.

I actually said lineup i.e he started the players i would've done of those available. I didn't say the players we have in the squad are necessarily good enough. Although some of them are.
Yes but the idea of substitutions is if some players are injured or not performing, in that game, they get subbed. He didn’t until it was too late, that suggests he thought they were doing ok. Bizarre.

I don't disagree, though I'd argue we don't have anyone on the bench who can change the game anyway....which in itself is a problem. This transfer window will be interesting.
