Apparently caught mucking about again during the test with India, no sandpaper was used during this episode.
When I opened this post I was thinking 'what's that fat barsteward been nicking now'.
What a fantastic batsman though and let's not forget about Atherton.Horrible little prick. Once a cheat always a cheat.
I'm surprised he wasnt doing his scraping on a length for when he bowls a few leggies. Not like our seamer friendly homer wickets then Lytham
May well be one of the best batsman of all time but he’s completely classless and by the look of it a serial cheatWhat a fantastic batsman though and let's not forget about Atherton.
I have known 2 Steve Smiths in my working life and both were really horrible people.
Good point, but at least ours take skill, not just banging them in on concrete. Not like our seamer friendly homer wickets then Lytham
Used to play on concrete at school .Good point, but at least ours take skill, not just banging them in on concrete.
Has no problem when he does it, but goes mental when someone else does it.Safe to say he has no issues with ‘bending’ and often openly flaunting the rules.
I’d say this is ungentlemanly conduct rather than real rule breaking but either way, it doesn’t look good
If we were playing them now, I'd want somebody scuffing his guard after every ball. Cheating **Has no problem when he does it, but goes mental when someone else does it.
It's almost as if their core DNA comes through from convicts. Why would he do that other than to cheat the batsman. Utterly disgraceful.
Being dishonest cheats seems to be in the Aussie's DNA....................oh hang on a minute, could be onto something here........
I've never understood this "he behaved like a **, but as he was overt about it that makes it somehow alright" school of thought. At least Smiffy was open.
Simple really. He wasn't trying to deceive. He has before. Atherton has before, yet Atherton has 2 great jobs and never gets slagged for his 'out caught' misdemeanour.I've never understood this "he behaved like a **, but as he was overt about it that makes it somehow alright" school of thought.
The big difference here though is that Smith cheated, got found out (and rightly punished) , then holds a press conference where he blubbered like baby (it was pathetic in all honesty).Simple really. He wasn't trying to deceive. He has before. Atherton has before, yet Atherton has 2 great jobs and never gets slagged for his 'out caught' misdemeanour.
Sick of all the hippo's. The same 'we won. the ref was ace, we lost the ref was crap' brigade. Just be objective (not you BRR2).
Cannot disagree with that.May well be one of the best batsman of all time but he’s completely classless and by the look of it a serial cheat
He was trying to get in the head of the Indian player. He was not seeking a playing advantage. The big difference here though is that Smith cheated, got found out (and rightly punished) , then holds a press conference where he blubbered like baby (it was pathetic in all honesty).
Swears he made a massive mistake and made a grovelling apology and now he is at it again.
Ok, he has only scuffed at the wicket, bt why do it in the first place.
Lots of players cheat (especially footballers) if they think they can get an advantage and sadly the term “sportsman” appears not to be in the vocabulary of quite a few nowadays.
The Indian player should have just given him a swift kick in the bollocks and said " ok you won you're in my head "He was trying to get in the head of the Indian player. He was not seeking a playing advantage.
Storm in a tea cup.
It's a real shame people put pre-conceptions

All new Australia under Langer, not trying to get a playing advantage, just trying to get in people's heads.
WBA keeper tried it on Gary goals, just got a wink and a ** from the big man.
Just shithousery ,no need to do it ,I suppose he did'nt do what Afridi did when he went disco dancing on the wicket. He was trying to get in the head of the Indian player. He was not seeking a playing advantage.

Absolutely right,Has no problem when he does it, but goes mental when someone else does it.

After living here for 25 years, you've got that spot on Wizz! It's almost as if their core DNA comes through from convicts.
Nature or nurture? Think weve solved that one.
Also, his Dad is Australian and his Mum is English; in fact he has dual citizenship and did all his early 'cricketing' in England and could have played for England..It's almost as if their core DNA comes through from convicts.

To me you’ve missed the point, nobody is on about any other players misdemeanours (major or otherwise) as said before look he’s a great player but by the look of it he’s a serial cheat and had let himself down massively. He should take responsibility for his actions.Simple really. He wasn't trying to deceive. He has before. Atherton has before, yet Atherton has 2 great jobs and never gets slagged for his 'out caught' misdemeanour.

IMO the fact that he has been caught cheating before will put him under the microscope for any poor behaviour on the field (does he deserve it YES I believe he does) it doesn’t sit right with me gamesmanship, two occasions spring to my mind, broad not walking when clearly edged and when we spangle the ball into the practice pitches to scuff it up to aid reverse swing. Winding players up and sledging within reason is fine but deliberately scratching out someone’s guard is just been a prick. Like others have said I wonder how he’d like it if someone did that to his guard? Don’t suppose he’d just accept it would he?Don't see what all the fuss is about. It's gamesmanship. If England played Portugal or Argentina in the WC Final and we wound up Ronaldo or Messi to the point where they retaliated and got sent off, would we be disgusted at how we had acted?
He hasn't claimed an obvious bump ball as a catch, deliberately damaged the ball (this time...) or even not walked after a clear edge. He was trying to unsettle the batsman. It didn't work. He got caught and looks a prick. End of.
