Steve Smith is at it again

The interesting thing is what the ACB will do about it. Another year’s ban? Oh sh*t, England are here in November. We....... massive fine and final warning( instead). It goes right to the top .
 
Smiths shocked and disappointed at claims of wrong doing. Suppose he was never going to admit it was he, classless little **. Will watch this story though and wonder if it’ll just get swept under the carpet now

As you can see from my first comments. I don’t see what Smith did as cheating. It was just mind games to try and unsettle Pant and wind him up.

But pretending it was nothing is embarrassing and makes it look far more of a shithouse act than it really was. Paine really hasn’t helped his star man with such a joke of a defence. They (and India) should man up and accept that all things are fair in love and war...Acknowledge he was being a bit of a prick and move on.

Paine says Smith shadow bats at least 5 times a match.

A) He shouldn't be stood in the batting sides crease for me. He's not batting.
B) Would be interested to know if the stump cams picked up this "at least 5 times" because I reckon it would have been picked up in previous tests and stopped. I hope someone reviews the footage.

I hate reading Aussie Cricket team bull and excuses. They apologise and squeal how proud they are to be Aussies and how they let themselves down - and then go to the next game and act in exactly the same unsportsmanlike way again sledging way over the top and trying any trick to win. Sad.

As I replied to your post - mind games is psychological.

Standing in the opponents crease whilst fielding and scuffing out his mark along with other areas of the crease is not mind games. It's a physical act carried out in order to try and gain an advantage. Be it confusing the batsman by removing his mark thus making him retake it, or creating damage within or around the crease to advantage a spin bowler it's primarily a physical action.

He shouldn't be doing it at International level cricket. It's petty cheating - not mind games or anything psychological.

Completely agree, what I don’t understand is why is he shadow batting when he knows he won’t bat again in the test? You don’t get number 10 and 11 running down the pitch when they’re batting do you???!!! As other have said only he knows what he’s up to but I’d have a fair few quid on him doing it maliciously? You can almost see that cheeky little grin on his face thinking he’s got off the hook... I mean what can they do about this if proven guilty? Would they ban him again? I personally couldn’t stomach watching him make another pathetic apology (granted he won’t)
 
Justin Langer has now said that he’s Never heard such rubbish in his life, or words to that effect, when the Captain and now the Coach are trivialising such incidents and even onside with It happening it sets a dangerous precedent for that team going forward, particularly given similar indiscretions have happened before.
 
Vaughan and Gough have been reprimanded by Justin Langer for calling him out for it. Rang Vaughan to complain about his comments

Had the Big Bash on this morning and between innings they were discussing the final test match with India. They talked about the previous game at length but there was no mention of the "incident". It's as though they are in total denial when the rest of the cricketing world are watching them like hawks. Hands over the ears "la la la not listening la la la".

Agree completely, typical Australian arrogance......they tried to move away from this kind of attitude for a while, but Langer and particularly Paine seem to be ringing it back with avengence.......With Paine it’s probably to make up for the fact that he’s a below average cricketer at the Top level but I’d expect better from Langer tbh
