God i remember thatWigan away sometime in the 80's
The away end was a grass hill with small asbestos shed on the top of it, it rained that hard
the ground moved underneath you and we started to slide downwards

You are probably right Spud - too many years too games have turned my memory to a Tangerine mushI remember that game differently. It only started raining about 30 minutes before kick off - but it certainly hammered it down. Ref deemed the pitch unplayable minutes before scheduled kick off time - there was standing water all over the pitch. Then within minutes the sun was out again.
Norwich came out to warm up / warm down (Worthington got a few verbals) & the pitch looked playable as the water had gone.
It was a late August Tuesday night fixture & most had come in t shirts n shorts as it was warm. Most got wet coming to & into the ground. Was a quick dash from the tyldesley club (pre match boozer at the time).
It was. Went to extra time and we scored after 10 seconds of it. Barely any celebration, more annoyance that they hadn't done that in the previous 90 mins. Not one that i was at but Newport in the cup, looked bloody wet on the tele
Yep, I was there that night too. Mini bus full pf us when the North Lancs Supporters Group was up and running.Hartlepool away, open end night game. Billy Ayre era, we lost 1-0
I was there that day, the only time I have walked out of a ground early.Another for the 5-0 Brentford game. By the far the wettest I've ever been. I had a full on Henri Lloyd yachting jacket and was still soacked to the skin. We bailed at 3-0, heard the 4th on the way out and the 5th on R5L.
Don't think it was the wet,est , but I was soaked from their leaky ** roof (and stood in rain while coppers took the piss).era.(the one remember most was a night match I traveled up from Wolverhampton it never stopped raining all night against arsenal ),I think first game Alan ball played against us after his transfer lost 1-0 George wood played in goal and they scored straight from a corner if I remember correct went through George's legs ,Armstrong I think scored it..?Preston away when Wes scored the pen, I remember that being a very wet day.
True but at least under cover and a great atmosphere.League One play-off semi vs Oldham away was a very wet one.
Loved it in the early 90s when it rained at Bloomfield Road night games the atmosphere in the South always seemed better.Brentford, Newport in the cup and Preston, and I think Brighton on a Tuesday night at the Withdean was a wet one/
Sorry must have been water on the brain. That game against Arsenal was 1-1 Peter
