Wow! That's incredible. Thank you for sharing that. My better half will also love that, she's all about stone circles and old stuff.Just shows things I didn’t know about on our doorstep. Did a bit of research after seeing this for the first time this morning.View attachment 5096Lost Village of Singleton Thorpe

Isn't there something in just capturing a good photo and the moment though?I have photoshop, it's all you need to get good pictures
There really is, but sometimes the camera doesn't get that moment. I used to be completely 'no editing' but this one is a good example of where I've edited and the result is much closer to 'the moment' I noticed than the actual original picture, where the shadows/light weren't prominant and I'd been sat on the hillside, just watching the light for a few minutes and being in awe of the way it changed the landscape below.Isn't there something in just capturing a good photo and the moment though?
I'm not against editing by any means. For example....your picture are visually pleasing to say the least. I don't have skill myself when it comes to taking photos... I just get luck every once in a thousand clicks!I've been trying to be more abstract and that recently. Been stuck in similar places for so long that I'm trying to notice stuff beyond the things I've already seen.
These are my favourite recent ones.

Hmmm.Hey Photographers - can I have your advice please?
I'd like to buy a compact camera that can take better photographs than an iPhone. I don't want an SLR, (too heavy), or interchangeable lenses, (too cumbersome), but I'd like some zoomability and sharp pictures.
Budget, no more than £500.
Any suggestions?
Thanks, td. I tired of upgrading phones a few years ago for little benefit, and I'm sticking with my iPhone7 until it conks out. Besides, I dislike the rigmarole of taking pictures on the phone - waving a flimsy object in front of your face - trying to press the button, only to find I had part of my finger over the lens. Also, how old is the iphone?
I've got a £300 Google phone and it takes astonishing pictures. Not quite a high end full frame DSLR, but I really couldn't ask for more. If I'd paid £300 for the camera alone, I think I'd be happy.
There's genuinely some stunning camera phones now and mine is probably a good bit behind some of the best.
What I mean is, is a phone upgrade an option?

What's your current outfit?
Take a look at the Panasonic Lumix bridge camera range. Also Sony and Canon have some excellent options. They all do high quality video as well as stills.Hey Photographers - can I have your advice please?

It’s probably a wide angle lens & they can distort things a little. What is going on in this photograph? It's Jill and Joe Biden visiting former President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn in their house in Georgia. The Bidens tower over the Carters in their miniature chairs. It's an official photograph released by the Jimmy Carter library so it's not been doctored.
I hope I don't shrink that much in my 90s.
Some kind of weird lens that magnifies the edges or the photograph curled up while copying it?

There’s the problem. Phone cameras have improved so much, other proper cameras have lagged behind. Mostly, the best pictures are taken by SLRs shooting in Raw with pro lenses, low aperture range, decent stable tripod, shutter release - but all that’s way over £500 and is a pain to carry aroundHey Photographers - can I have your advice please?

Looks like quite a deep seat that dips lower at the back. Effectively your only seeing half her legs from the knees down. Does look weird. I’ve had the 6S. Currently using 11 Pro Max which is a heap better imo, especially in low lightIt’s probably a wide angle lens & they can distort things a little.
On the subject of cameras I’ve got a Canon entry level DSLR but I don’t take it with me unless for something specific so most of my photos are from my iPhone 6S which is quite old, but in most reasonably lit locations you can get a decent shot. The massive advantage is most of us have our phones with us at all times. On the subject of editing & I’m certainly no expert but the better the original then less or no editing at all is needed.
