Blackpool v Shrewsbury Town Official Matchday Thread 24.04.21

Very disappointing display. Soft goal, and no real threat up front, and never really looked likely to get back into it.
Maybe they needed to throw Ballard up front or something like that when they are behind?
Good chance of missing out on the play offs altogether now.
Time to try a different approach now?

I wonder what shiote critchley will spew out after that performance.
We have been sussed out along time ago....If the opposition score first...they are guaranteed at least a point.

We just need to scramble over the line to stay in the playoffs. Today we looked out of gas & ideas. Poor performance. I would have changed as many as possible to start this game.

2 up at Lincoln and they come back and we suddenly can't play.

Other sides seem to be able to come back often against us, but can we come back even from 1 down? Very rarely.

How to throw away a season..... not quite yet but its not looking good. They are lucky no fans are at the stadium, they would be booing this lot right now.

I would sum this squad and manager up this season as reasonable. Tough to beat, usually, but uninspiring to watch. Injuries haven't helped but all teams have injuries. I would say we are 3 players away from a promotion winning side, but I do question the tactics as being too negative and more geared to stopping the other side scoring than us being a team who try to score lots of goals a la Holloway.

I think we will make the play offs but will get knocked out in the double header.

Can’t decide if games catching up players , playing 3 matches a week , or missing players with injury’s is taking its toll especially when Jerry & Simms only fit front two and Simms being 19

I can't even look at the table but I'd be getting a psychiatrist in or something , get these last 2 games out of their heads, maybe a hypnotist?, with the money this sadler has i'd actually get david blaine in if nothing else he'll take their minds off things will blainey.

Sorry boys , can't even have a fight down at the windmill to work out the aggression thanks to the pandemic (and the fact the windmill was seemingly closed, presumedly for being a fulcrum of messageboard violence).

I can see that critchley learned so much from the Rochdale game.
Absolutely terrible performance from our midfield yet again.
Grant ward getting into poor positions giving no option but to go backwards
What's the point in getting it out wide with only two players? It's far too two dimensional.

If were going to carry on like this we may as well not bother, they don't look like they know how to create chances, back to early season sideways passing but with aimless long balls thrown in, bad touches, shots straight at players. Very little urgency, even at the end we almost let the ref blow again without putting it into he box.

Utterly clueless.

Dreadful on every level.

I posted before the game about taking the initiative - once again we wasted 70 minutes with Embleton in a key position. That’s down to NC.

Players are knackered, so at Rochdale he could have played Gabriel, Marv, Robson, Mitchell and Holmes. That’s down to NC.

Teams have sussed us, we can’t break down a non-footballing team. So, you mix it up, perhaps play Kaikai in a central mid role, one up top, or look to play 3 at the back. That’s down to NC.

We were nailed on, but now our final game in hand is away at Sunderland.

I still think we’ll do it, be NC needs to be doing more and better. He’s still learning, but if we can see it......

The season has not been thrown away, it’s not the end of the world, we have played shit for a couple of games but it’s not out of the question that we might start to play well again. We’re very fortunate that the table is still the way it is, and we need to take heart that we are still very much in control of our own destiny

Would we better if CJ , madine were fit , probably
looks to me again the same issues as start of season , lacking that final ball and scoring , few weeks ago I thought we stopped this , do agree thou Neil looks more bothered in not losing than more winning , hence our home form

We struggle in games where the opposition put 10 men behind the ball and press us in the final third. We just don't have the players to pass it around and create chances. I think this is why we have faired better against the teams in the top half as they arent sitting back giving us more space to create chances in the final third.

You genuinely think he should start Brad Holmes???

Hopeless. Time to change a few things on Tuesday. We could start by not having a left-footed wide midfielder on the right. Get Ward out there like at Portsmouth & Charlton and bring Robson in the centre.

Get Keshi or Stewart on the bench even if they can only do 15 minutes, at least we're not just swapping full-backs.

And Garbutt can have a rest on Tuesday for me as well. Bring Husband in, it's not like we're losing anything from set pieces given today's performance. A draw will be good result at Sunderland but we need a complete refresh because we're just going through the motions at the moment.

We really need to move the ball forward quicker , and to our own players , these teams are making it difficult for us because we fuck about with the ball too much making too many backwards and sideways passes. Move the ball forward faster and don’t give them time to get back and regroup. I’m not suggesting we play hoofball, just move the ball faster .

Were you saying this during our unbeaten run of 16 games ???? Winning 5 consecutive away games in the process????
Yep I have been saying it all season. He is not a manager. The tactics, the subs, the team selections. We have been shite for the last 5 games and we play the same lethargic way. Across the back line and the diagonal hoof to no one. If that is the attacking football you are happy with then awesome. It’s not for me. I was enthused pre season with our attacking passing and intent. Wtf has that gone?

It’s been pretty uninspiring. We desperately needed the Ballard chance to go in first half. We’ve had no creativity at all.
It's worrying when we say we needed a flick on from a corner to a centre half to win a game and expect to be a playoff side.

Where the F is the quality.

Spot on

Are you stupid? Yates has given everything all season, mainly running alone up front.

The man is totally drained and needs a rest. We don't even substitute him.
No I'm not stupid. He was very poor at Rochdale and worse today. Simms should've stayed on over Yates. Preferably both should've stayed on but Yates is offering far less than Simms at the moment. I don't buy the "he's tired" crap.

Very poor qualty of play from us. Clueless team in possession and management seemed outmanoeuvred by the oppostion in terms of tactics. When we were winning games we pressed the oppostion high up for the whole match. That both hurried the oppostion and also gave us movement going forward. That tactic seems to have disappeared the last few matches

Sunderland away on Tuesday. Not optimistic on current form. We might have to win our last three games of the season. Entirely possible, but Doncaster will have the freedom of nothing at stake and Northampton will be scrapping to stay up. If it comes down to final game against Bristol Rovers we should do it. But even if we fall over the line and get into the POs, I feel we have run out of steam. Here’s hoping though.

God we have some total pricks pretending to be fans....seriously...just fuck off and watch Liverpool or Utd from your TV's
I always thought Sunderland fans were knobs...but we seem to have some right cunts on here today
Man comes on opinions message board then gets all ratty when he reads an opinion he doesn’t like. If you wish to exist in a happy clappy world feel free but stay off a fan’s message board 👍
