Since winning the world cup England has gone for the safe option, managers that have tried to win by trying not to lose.
They avoided the Brian Clough style manager who would upset the FA, and gone for the Bobby Robson, Ron Greenwood type. Whenever they
have taken a more risky approach such as Venables, Hoddle they have been despatched at the first sign of any off-field controversy.
Until finally they have appointed Southgate a manager that has the charisma of John Major, and as risky as Trevor Brooking.
A manager that was probably chosen so he wouldn't offend the woke players that represent the country.
Maybe the time is right to appoint someone that has won the biggest prize in football twice, a person that will not speak out against their employer
no matter how they behave which will suit the FA. Someone that will play attacking football, and will be a media favorite. But above all someone that has the motivation and oratory skills to inspire the overpaid,mega-rich, lazy, woke players that would rather be on holiday than playing in a World/Euro cup final.
That man is Ian Holloway and combined with two or three coaches to do the routine training work could be the ideal person to do the job.
