Another legend gone today. Sad news!
At fault for two if you ask me. If Banks hadn't been poisoned we'd have won that game.RIP “The Cat” great keeper but got slaughtered for his mishap in the 70 World Cup, letting a shot go under his body to allow West Germany back into the game, he never really got over it!
Yep, Charlton’s role was to follow Beckenbauer which he did successfully until taken off...Sir Alf took Charlton off too. Thought the game was won.
That's my exact memories to Levi.RIP “The Cat” great keeper but got slaughtered for his mishap in the 70 World Cup, letting a shot go under his body to allow West Germany back into the game, he never really got over it!
Too true Brett, on a lighter note he once said ” I’ve seen that goal so many times, and one of these days I’m going to save it! Bless him. That's my exact memories to Levi.
As he's the only one in the nets, that's always the life of the goaly isn't it? If he makes a save he's brilliant, if he makes 1 mistake - he's lost us the game. So unfair really, but that's reality.
RIP 'The Cat'.
Indeed. What a great keeper and part of the legendary 1970 Cup Final which was the first to go to a replay for a long time.R I P the cat great service to club and country , thoughts with family, a time to all think about each other
Didn't he cost us two goals against Germany? I remember him playing at Bloomfield Road and was getting stick from the South Paddock and being called the Mexico fumbler. I thought he always had a touch of class about him. RIP.That's my exact memories to Levi.
