The summer transfer rumours thread.

“We have to remember who we are, who we’re trying to become and not trying to be something we’re not going to be in the future." Neil Critchley
Not a clue what he means by that other than if we don't make the right recruitment what we'll be in the future is a League One side again!

Or RB not that it matters if he's not coming. It seems Sunderland have a definite plan to build a team of kids.

You have to think they Teddy Howe must be absolutely garbage. I mean we’re desperate for a right back.

I find it pretty poor to be 4 games into the season and be playing players out of position. You can't have a slow start at this level.

We're missing vitally a CM who can handle this level, two right backs. And maybe a striker/winger.

Last season we had a really good defence we lose Ballard back to his parent
club and then replace him with a 35yr old who is off the pace and spends
more time shouting instructions at others rather than concentrating on
his own inadequate game it just doesnt t make sense neither does sending
Thorniley on loan to Oxford it seems that NC only wants to keep players that
have been signed during his tenure as manager.

Crewe forward Owen Dale according to The72 website. Crewe rumoured to want £1 million for him though....

Crewe seem pretty set on not letting him go for less than £1 million and they’ve sold enough players recently that they’re not in a position where they have to sell. At £500k I think we’re gonna struggle getting this over the line unless the player really pushes for it.
The lad although a 5ft 9’ ‘forward’ seems to play more as a winger and can play either flank. Seems like competition for Keshi.

Personally I’d rather us spend this money pushing the boat out to bring Gabriel in. I think he’s the missing piece in this squad and definitely the most pressing need.

I'd rather we spent the money on Simms. Gabriel a tad over rated IMO.

Would LOVE it if we could get Simms on a permanent but he’s currently injured and I reckon he’ll be very expensive as Everton are trying to get him to sign a new deal.

I think the RB / RWB position is the top priority right now for the club. We need that pace and attacking threat on the right of defence in order to bring balance to the squad.

Simms is back in training!

If we could get Simms, Longstaff (M) and Gabriel it would be a major coup. Only trouble is there is a long list of Championship clubs in for Longstaff on loan. Forest are in meltdown at the moment with Hughton on borrowed time so it might be difficult time to get a deal done with Gabriel. Also, I see Gabriel more as a right wing back than a right back so NC might want a more defensive minded right back like Connolly. Simms is no brainer and I would push the boat out for him, young, tall, good finisher and the Championship is exactly the level he needs to be playing.

Nobbers looking at bringing in Connor Wickham (according to penisonline) 6’ 3” striker been around but with premiership experience and still only 28 and now a free agent.

Sort of player we should be targeting imo would suit playing alongside Yates.

Unfair TD. Madine wants to play. He's an older player for sure but he's had surgery and he has to wait until the medics say he can play.
Due to their injury records, we can't afford to rely on Gaz and Kev to be injury free all season.
When they're fit, they're real assets to us, but unfortunately, due to the rigours and demands of professional football, some players suffer from debilitating injuries more than others.
This is why all managers try to recruit decent cover players for each position, which is currently a double problem for us at RB.

Lythamkev!! What ever happened to him? His threads were always good value. Someone please tell me he's alive and kicking.
He’s alive and kicking.

Spoke to him in the Armfield club before the Coventry game he’s doing ok.

Said he got pissed off with with too many new knob head posters on here also got pissed off with those food threads. 😂

Only one league game left before the transfer window closes, then 11 days to bed players in before the game against Fulham. I wonder what sort of team we will put out against Fulham? 2 or 3 new players in the XI or on the bench?

If that's the case, and I don't know all the facts, I'm not sure I'd sign a player who refused to train while under contract. A 22 year old that's been developed by Crewe and still has a year to run on his contract I think. Not normal behaviour.

Probably Twitter bollocks, but rumour mill saying that our first bid for Dale was rejected over the weekend, however we've put a second bid in this morning. Crew fans also saying that he's not ill, he's refusing to play or train. One of them said he was promised he could leave this summer if a Championship club came in for him and isn't happy that Crew aren't keeping to their word. Like I said could be bollocks though.

Wouldn't be surprised if this is true, Crewe have lost Ng, Kirk, Pickering, and Wintle over the past year and have probably only recouped about 2,000,000 to 3,000,000 for all of them despite their collective value being almost twice of that.

They don't want to lose another player for cheap again, which is understandable.

500k for a player with one year on their contract is probably fair, but in Crewe's eyes he'll be worth twice that in a year or two so they want to ensure they get as much out of him as possible.

However, if he's refusing to train that tips the scales in our favor.

Whatever will be will be but we need the right players in now August is nearly over and no movement ..A right back is needed Urgently.
I think Connelly looked a bit better on Sat as a result of having a mobile Epo alongside, but that shouldn't distract the search.

He'll be worth £0 to Crewe in 12 months time when he's contract runs down. Better bet to sell now with a good sell-on clause.

They would still get something for him as it would go to tribunal because he's 22, maybe even £500k +.

I do agree though, they should sell now with a good clause. No point keeping an unhappy player who isn't giving their best. On the scout report someone posted on here it said he's only on £450 a week, so you can understand his frustration when a potential Championship move comes along.
