The summer transfer rumours thread.

They would still get something for him as it would go to tribunal because he's 22, maybe even £500k +.

I do agree though, they should sell now with a good clause. No point keeping an unhappy player who isn't giving their best. On the scout report someone posted on here it said he's only on £450 a week, so you can understand his frustration when a potential Championship move comes along.
Not if he goes to Scotland (or overseas) which seems to be a common outcome these days.

If that's the case, and I don't know all the facts, I'm not sure I'd sign a player who refused to train while under contract. A 22 year old that's been developed by Crewe and still has a year to run on his contract I think. Not normal behaviour.
What is “normal “ behaviour in football these days. Most contracts aren’t worth the paper they are written on, if a player wants away they almost always get it. Not saying I agree, but that’s the way it is.

Tom Lowery of Crewe may also be available. Currently left out of squad as not signed new contract. Good playmaker but only 5' 6" so may not be physical enough for Championship ?

Good playmaker but only 5'6 so may not be physical enough for the Championship? What!
I take it you've never heard of the likes of Billy Bremner, Johnny Giles or our very own
Alan Ball they didn't take any prisoners and were a different class to Championship standard.

Last season we had a really good defence we lose Ballard back to his parent
club and then replace him with a 35yr old who is off the pace and spends
more time shouting instructions at others rather than concentrating on
his own inadequate game it just doesnt t make sense neither does sending
Thorniley on loan to Oxford it seems that NC only wants to keep players that
have been signed during his tenure as manager.
olly Turton?

Steve Bruce has said Matty Longstaffe is definitely going out on loan next week.
Didn't say where though.

Why aren’t we in for Taylor Moore and lose Keogh?
Maybe Bristol City have proved that whilst Moore looked good for us in League 1 he's not good enough for the Championship? I'm hoping Eky will be 1st choice at right CB with Keogh and Connolly as back ups so not a postion we need to strengthen, IMO.

I think we will at least take a couple of loans that we we are not expecting. Most of our summer signings were under the radar. I think we will also make at least one permanent signing

Team that pays the highest proportion of his wages apparently.
Great way to do business.......Off you go Matty you may not improve wherever you end up but it saves us a big chuck of dough!!

According to Nixon (on Twitter) we’re putting bids in but we’re playing it very safe on the figures front. Nowhere near what Sunderland, Forest, Crewe or Shrewsbury wanted for Embleton, Gabriel, Dale or Vela. Obviously not our money to spend and I completely understand the club being frugal in the current climate but I am beginning to think we’ve shot ourselves in the foot as we seem to be into option no. 3 (at least) for a RB in Vela and still it doesn’t look like it’s going to be accepted. The closer it gets to the end of the window the more desperate we look and the less likely we are of getting great value.
On the RB front I am wondering if the recruitment team dropped a bollock this summer. We should have had at least a back up RB on the books to avoid looking too desperate.

I could be wrong but it feels like there are very few out of contract players out there this season, far fewer than usual.

Last season Mitchell, Garbutt, Dougal and Stewart signed as free agents after 31 August, this season there doesn't seem to be anything like that quality about.

Possbily a Covid aftermath thing, maybe clubs are hoarding players, perhaps around deadline day clubs will be willing to give frees to the players they don't need to get them off the payroll, either way this doesn't seem to be a completely normal transfer window.

Desperation is in the eye of the beholder. Connolly has done well and, while we need to sign someone by 1st September, I think desperation is a fan perspective.

It might appear like the club have missed a trick with transfers this Summer (which is understandable seeing as we haven't signed anyone in over a month), but I don't think we're as desperate as some people are making us out to be.

The instances where we've heard about transfers getting rejected have come from sources who had a vested interest in letting people know (i.e. Embleton, Gabriel, Dale sources all came from non-Blackpool sources).

The club have been tight lipped all summer, a lot of us knew about Lavery, Bowler, etc. because their agents were already drumming up interest before the transfer window opened.

However, none of us knew about James, Keogh, Grimshaw, TJJ, which suggests to me that the signings we do make between now and next week will be players we haven't heard of up until that point.

Trust the club and recruitment team are doing everything right, because I certainly do.

Agree Connolly has done well and could make himself no1 right back choice.
Gabriel was a 'regular' RB but in early matches was poor defensively. Connolly is also a threat offensively with hitting the woodwork and scoring.
I keep saying it but if given a straight choice Turts or Connolly would definitely go for Connolly

Every time. Critch ain't daft.

The fact we are being linked with players in the positions we need to strengthen is a good sign. We all know it is a difficult market, how many clubs are spending anything? There aren't that many in the Championship, the fact we have bids in is a good thing, eventually we will get there. Have a little faith.

I think there is a lot in what you say. It's 'silly season' with transfer rumours and I think the uber professionally run clubs like us will play their cards very close to their chest. I agree there will be loads going on behind the scenes some of which will inevitably leak out into the public domain and but there will be a lot which won't. We just need to be patient and trust the recruitment team, Critch and SS.

Few Pool fans on Twitter seem to believe that Antony Evans is next through the door hope not
I'll be disappointed if that's true. I dont think he Championship quality at all. He was at Crew last year and didn't do anything there so I'm not just going off his loan spell with us either.

Just read this whole thread to see who we've been after and it still worries me I've not seen any names as good as Ballard or Simms (or ironically Embleton who I can't believe we didn't sign straight after Wembley throwing the kitchen sink at it).

But we hadn't heard rumours of Ballard or Simms before they signed and i doubt many of us

knew anything about them. Both turned into excellent signings albeit on loan.

Fingers crossed we unearth more players like them.
