What a great girl and what an amazing achievement . . . I hadn't heard of her two days ago and now she's a record breaker.

The way she is speaking is so good . . . can't believe she's only 18. Fantastic !!!

Just watching the presentation. 2.5m and she seemed more bewildered by the streamers falling and the attention. Far more gratious than her opponent too.

Well done Emma. The gravity of your achievement will probably hit you tomorrow. SPOTY as many have said already. Seeding of 23 or 30 seems far too low??
 
I love how humble she is, no airs or graces but not overawed either. Strong, confident, classy and obviously loving her life. I love how open and relaxed she is talking to Henman too, completely honest. This is what a real champion looks like.
 
Watched it and wanted to enjoy it without the distraction of AVFTT.

What a wonderful achievement; I didn't think I'd ever see a British woman win a proper tennis title!

It did feel like watching a junior final they are both so young!

I hope she is able to enjoy it, I hope the media give her some space and allow her to grow and develop and undermine her.

Just brilliant.
 
Brilliant performance, relentless, cool under pressure and so focused. Hopefully just the start of a long and successful career. Will wake up tomorrow morning wondering whether it actually happened, still feels unbelievable.

She got better and better with each match and dominated her opponents. Not only a fantastic and top level tennis talent but also one with a brilliant temperament that can deal with the big points and pressure. The way she has won her games was more impressive than Murray's wins in my opinion. It will be interesting to see how she progresses over the next couple of years. From a ranking of 338 before Wimbledon to 28 now, which will give her entry to the slams and other tournaments. And she has got her A levels and passed her driving test as well in the last month! Astonishing rise

Just comical seeing how quick you get the Union Jack out when immigrants become successful. Shame we won't have many like her in future generations now opportunity no longer knocks.
 
She's just been installed as 1/11 favourite for SPOTY on the Betfair Exchange, so probably even shorter at the traditional bookies!!!!

Don't know; we did well at the Olympics, smashed the Paralympics and have just seen a British Woman win the Tennis.

Not a bad couple of months of summer sport 🇬🇧

And if we looked at England in isolation, we could add to it; but we won't as I don't have a St George's Cross emoji 😉
 
BHOK you’ve posted 8 comments this evening all in last couple of hours and you’ve yet to acknowledge what this young girl has achieved tonight instead you rant on where she was born and where her parents are from which is so so sad.

That tells me all I need to know about you and your anti British driven agenda.
