Summer transfer rumours thread.

3 of the 25 man squad have to be goalkeepers, its the rules. Maybe the youth GK isnt ready to step up yet
We haven't a young pro keeper. Charlie Monks has been released and last seasons u/18 first choice keeper, Alec McLaclan, has not been offered a pro-contract.
Archie Cunningham who is a 2nd year scholar will be 4th in line to the "throne".

Which is one reason why you go hunting around the big acadamies and see if you can pick a No 3 up.

I don't think we need 3 match ready keepers as we can use a loan if needed.

Third can be a 19yo kid

Yes, however regulation 57 says that you can only use an emergency loan if all keepers are unavailable, so if your third keeper is a 19 y/o kid, and the other two are injured, then he plays, and if he ships 5 goals a game then that's on the club.

Is there not something that says they have to have made 5 senior appearances? Fairly sure that’s how Luton were able to get Ingram in and didn’t have to play that young lad.

If your first 2 keepers are injured then the kid simply breaks a finger in training. Its called doing a 'Lewis Edge'.

Never sure how seriously to take 'Football League World'... but here you go

I think it's obvious we are selling him, with both Forest and Bournemouth getting promoted, hopefully it will be a good move for Josh and the club. The sooner a deal can be agreed, hopefully will be the trigger for the players we want to bring in.

Of course we are. The question is whether the story I linked has any legs or whether it’s just agent/selling club talk, or conjecture for clickbait purposes.

You are right of course that we want this done quickly. But it’s also important not to appear over eager and under sell our biggest asset.

100%, I'm sure there will be other clubs interested. I would hope we can get in the region of £5M. If I were Bowler I'd opt for Forest as I suspect Johnson will also be hot property and even with their promotion, could be difficult to turn down the £15M being rumoured.

But if you're main 2 are out then you can bring in an emergency loan. No stipulation that he can't play.

Did you know that the BBC had to consider dropping their BBC Sport "Rumours" page because over 90% of rumours reported were/are incorrect.
It's now fixed as a 'round up of rumours' from 'other' publications which are then sited as being elsewhere, so the BBC didnt lose it's ranking as Number 1 information gathering/ trusted site on the web.

I only say this because 99% of what is 'reported' on football sites is either made up....or jurno's are putting 1+1 together and getting Forest/Bournemouth reigniting interest in Josh Bowler....It's an obvious truth/guess....

Forest would be stupid to sell Johnson now they’ve been promoted. Could only see JB been back up to him there but would still be a decent move.

EFL rules and regulations

57 Emergency Goalkeeper Loan

57.1 If all the Professional Goalkeepers at a Club are unavailable as a result of having been:

57.1.1 certified by an independent medical practitioner as being unfit to play;

57.1.2 suspended; or

57.1.3 called up to play for his national association representative matches in accordance with the requirements of FIFA as laid down from time to time,

a Club may register (either before or after the deadlines laid down in Regulations 43.2 and 43.3), a further goalkeeper on a short term basis in accordance with the following provisions.

It would seem very likely he'll leave but these things don't always work out. In fact his move in January didn't work out, despite a fee allegedly being agreed with two different clubs. I think.

Indeed, there aren't too many Championship clubs with that amount of cash and maybe Bournemouth and Forest will set their sights higher now they've been promoted.

Hope that link about Bowler is true in that Bournemouth and Forest are both still interested, with both being in the Prem now, we should be able to demand a little bit more.

I think 5 Million plus a sell on fee would be feasible and great business for the club.

Hopefully we can get this deal sorted next week so that we can use those funds to start our own transfer window spending.

I think I may have got this wrong.

I thought there was a requirement for a Championship club to have 3 goalkeepers, but I can't find it anywhere in the regulation, so I must be wrong on that point.

The important point is that the regs define a "professional goalkeeper" as one who's played at least 5 games at league level.

Looking at Luton, who did have an emergency loan, they have one "professional" goalkeeper in James Shay, but neither of their other 2 have played more than 5 games, both appear to have been fit but because they're not technically "professional" an emergency loan was allowed.

So on reflection it is perfectly possible to only have 2, or even 1 keeper in the squad, name a 19 y/o on the bench, and then bring in emergency loans as and when needed, in fact technically Grimy wasn't "professional" when he first signed for us.

Sean reporting at Lancashire Live that we haven't got the funds to meet Kirks valuation though we'd like to sign him. I guess we need to sell Bowler before we have any incomings.

Do you mean Captain James T. Kirk of the Starship Enterprise?
Cos if you mean the guy from Charlton, then let someone else have him if he's anything remotely expensive. 🙃

I’m baffled, the transfer window hasn’t started, but spurs have just signed Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan, how does that work?

I heard they wanted £500k for Kirk, so I'm not surprised he's out of our valuation, we need better than him. We will get some decent transfer funds in this summer and that should gives us a bit of buying power.

I’m not sure if you’ve miss quoted or whether Lancs Live are just miss reporting but surely it’s just we don’t want to pay 500k for Kirk? Which is more than fair enough. We’ll spend more than 500k on a player or two during the course of this window I suspect.

Essentially the report says Blackpool don’t have the funds to pay the release clause because they’re being prioritised in other areas.

Mo Sangare (who appeared in the Lancashire County Cup game v Liverpool whilst on trial) has joined Accrington on a free following his contact expiring at Newcastle United.

Regarding Kirk. We did exactly the same thing with Dale.

Back he went and suddenly we didn’t quiet have the money for him. Renegotiated with Crewe and hey presto we had him.

In hind sight Kirk probably isn’t worth 500k. But in general those are the sort of prices you’re paying at our level. Especially when he has 2or even 3 years on his contract.

I think there’s still a decent chance he ends up with us. We just want a bit of money off.

I'm unsure about Kirk as a player because I just haven't seen enough of him.
From what Ì have seen he's not a £500k player.

Yes, about £450,000 off.😁

Yeh he is still a bit of an unknown, I think a lot of peoples hang ups about him are that he doesn’t have blistering pace or is built like a brick shit house.

But if we look back on here during the first part of the season they’ll be mountains of complaints about our delivery not only from corners and free kicks but from the wide areas in open play. When Kirk got into the team regularly in Feb and March our attacking threat from corners wide area etc went up immeasurably.

At the end of the season we were 4th I think in goals from corners. Most if not all will have come from Kirk.

I might be wrong. As I say not totally sold on him myself but just think his deliveries and genera vision to play a decent attacking ball are worth something next year. Probably not 500k but I’d be happy if we got him below that.

In contrast CJ has the blistering pace and decent physical attributes but majority of us agree he needs to be moved on.

Exactly….. the best connected EFL journalist
With Nixon it’s important to realise a certain number of his stories are sourced from agents. And agents have their own game.

So, for example and purely hypothetically, an agent might want to place his goalkeeper from the Scottish Premier League with a club in the English Championship.

He identifies the club with the biggest need who don’t have a ‘keeper.

When they don’t nibble he identifies another club that may have uncertainty over its goalkeeping situation (who also happen to be the other club’s rivals) and drops his name in connection with them.

Purely hypothetical, as I say …
