Could and should have been 4-0 or 5-0 though!Yes we were smashed 1-0 by a team with a (allegedly) £15m striker
Yes they missed chances but we should’ve scored twice in stoppage time, very good penalty appeal etc.Could and should have been 4-0 or 5-0 though!
I know they missed a good chance not long after scoring in the first half but apart from the ball from the right which went across the goal with no-one close to getting on the end of it and a decent Grimshaw save when (but one which I would have expected him to make), I didn't think they threatened all that much. If they had won 4 or 5 nil, that would have been massively flattering!! As Seasidepaddle said, you could easily argue we missed 2 golden opportunities and a stonewall penalty turned down near the end of the game!!Could and should have been 4-0 or 5-0 though!
Grimshaw made 2 great saves in the second half, plus the supposed dive was a clear pen apparently - not seen the replay. 3 if not 4 would not have flattered them.I know they missed a good chance not long after scoring in the first half but apart from the ball from the right which went across the goal with no-one close to getting on the end of it and a decent Grimshaw save when (but one which I would have expected him to make), I didn't think they threatened all that much. What do you want him to do? Dance? ffs!!Jesus….. about as much charisma as an empty telephone box!
‘Erm, hmmm, erm, erm - yeah….. we lacked quality in the final 3rd’
thanks , Michael - we’ve just been rubber dicked on Sky and that’s the best you can do!
PodevaWe lacked quality all over the pitch. The only outfield players who came out with any credibility were Thompson and Corbeanu on the left, Yates and Marv.
So you want Sadler to lend money to the club to buy players and pay their wages then?Aware of interest in Bowler and if he goes will make maintaining our status much harder. Sounds quite ominous with regard to any players coming in.
Looks like the stand and training ground are taking preference for the next few years
I was worried by that too. He also said something in his preview interview about Rovers not worrying about any of our players, hope he is speaking a bit more confidently behind closed doors. The quote that Scrafton has tweeted is a bit worrying. Basically the same thing Scott Parker was sacked for saying at the weekend.
Midfield is a major problem after that gifted goal. Straight down the middle again.Midfield is obviously the problem, but we have Patino, Fiorini, Stewart and Keshi out injured and Carey banned. If those were all available, we would look entirely different. I’m excited to see more of Podeva, he looked like he will terrify defences and can cross.
If Karl Oyston had presided over this transfer window just bringing in loan players, plus one permanent this board would be in uproar., so don't kid yourself. Today is a big day for the board and they need to step up and help the manager. So you want Sadler to lend money to the club to buy players and pay their wages then?
So we end up millions in debt no training ground or new East but a few richer players brilliant.
Proved a only had/touched the ball twice (one good cross)Midfield is obviously the problem, but we have Patino, Fiorini, Stewart and Keshi out injured and Carey banned. Karl Oyston wouldn't have had 26 contracted players on his books and we'd have ended up with 9 trialists on the pitch first friendly back at Southport. If Karl Oyston had presided over this transfer window just bringing in loan players, plus one permanent this board would be in uproar., so don't kid yourself. We've started the last 2 seasons with no right back.Karl Oyston wouldn't have had 26 contracted players on his books and we'd have ended up with 9 trialists on the pitch first friendly back at Southport.
Comparing the two is nuts.
Does Gabriel not count as a right back or you only including fit players and you never answered the question would you like Sadler to lend the club money to buy players and pay their salaries or new developments? We've started the last 2 seasons with no right back.
Manager saying week after week, expecting one in this week.
Manager saying we will have a better chance of signing players towards the end of the window, when they are struggling for contracts.
Reliance on loan signings and not permanent. Meaning we are in the same position at the start of every season.
Ring any bells ? Why is Simon Sadler above any form of criticism ? Thompson has been a great signing, Patino has been a great loan, Poveda will be a great loan, the jury is out on the other 3.
He wasn't fit, hence we had no right back at the start of the season. This meant Connolly was makeshift the same as the start of last season. There then followed one of the most protracted transfer chases of all time and we will now have cover/competition next year ( January 2023 ) Until then let's hope Gabriel stays fit, except it isn't something he does well.Does Gabriel not count as a right back or you only including fit players and you never answered the question would you like Sadler to lend the club money to buy players and pay their salaries or new developments?
Yes. Didn't include him because he came on very late. And
Podeva
So you'd skimp on the investment of long term infrastructure for the club so we can get a couple of bodies in? Because we lost a game 1-0?He wasn't fit, hence we had no right back at the start of the season. This meant Connolly was makeshift the same as the start of last season. The East Stand is a must, not sure what SS's contribution to that is. As for the training ground, the time for an all singing, all dancing training ground was when we were awash with Prem money and the fault for that lays with the Oystons. Personally I'd settle for a scaled down new facility, good enough to attract new players we INVEST in and become an established Championship side, not rebuilding every 12 months when loan players return to their parent clubs
A defence splitting pass and a forward who knows how to score. Football is such a simple game.Midfield is a major problem after that gifted goal. Straight down the middle again.
No, I've been saying it since the plans were announced. Do we really need a training ground on that scale ?So you'd skimp on the investment of long term infrastructure for the club so we can get a couple of bodies in? Because we lost a game 1-0?
Yes or in thirty years time our kids will still be supporting a club with below par facilities. Things always move on and we need to catch up with things as they should be now.No, I've been saying it since the plans were announced. Do we really need a training ground on that scale ?
I was disappointed by the fact that two 18 year olds ran the midfield & completely outplayed us (well done to them BTW for their perforamnces)We didnt have enough players in midfield who can work the ball, hence long ball for Madine, they dealt with that easily.
Every club in the football league needs a 20 goal a season strikerI’ve come to the conclusion after watching all our games this season not only do we desperately need an attacking/goal scoring midfielder but we also need a 20 goal a season striker because the more I watch the likes of Madine, Yates, Lavery, Bowler, I don’t think there’s 20 goals between them coming this season.
Worrying times ahead methinks as I just can’t see by the end of today answering all our problems, could even go backwards if Bowler leaves and no one arrives.
Not if 20 goals come from the midfield they don’t.Every club in the football league needs a 20 goal a season striker
Exactly this. It’s self evident that if Bowler goes now we won’t have the time to invest any of that money and seal a replacement player deal….unless the buying club throw in someone surplus as part of the deal. We don’t know how much we are getting and unlikely to spend all of it anyway and we all know our budget is modest for transfers and wages anyway. So he’s stating the truth as normal. I haven’t an issue in him just coming out with it now to be honest.
But they won't be below par facilities will they, just not on the scale originally planned, allowing investment in the team. Football is changing every few months at the moment and certainly with proposals, it's ever more important we stay in The Championship for monetary reasons. I'll be 94 in 30 years and icertainly don't want 20 of those years watching us try to get back to the second tier.Yes or in thirty years time our kids will still be supporting a club with below par facilities. Things always move on and we need to catch up with things as they should
That is a very good argument for building a state of the art academy set up to attract very good young players.I was disappointed by the fact that two 18 year olds ran the midfield & completely outplayed us (well done to them BTW for their perforamnces)
Stay in this Leagueso reading these comments
some fans on here would be sad if pool got relegated, but get over it as as long new training ground and east stand are done , some want pool to hold on with those plans and improve the squad with quality signings to avoid relegation and stay in the championship
so my question is to all of you
what’s more important and don’t say both
it’s one or the other
stay in this league and buy a couple quality players and keep josh with a renewed contract or put all funds towards building training ground and east stand
But BB is fantastic we had a whole thread saying so!!He seems frustrated to me. Doesn’t take much to read between the lines. I think one particular part of the current team upstairs is pretty good at talking himself up, but not really matching that ‘hype’.
I appreciate it is tricky for clubs like us in the market, but think there’s a few bits of smoke and mirrors.
Emperors new clothes innit! But BB is fantastic we had a whole thread saying so!!
The money for training ground and East is borrowed.so reading these comments
