I don't know what's coming next but if I was to guess I'd say we're about to have four weeks without a defeat and I think that time will be used to calm things down, shift the focus onto the world cup and then begin to ramp up the emphasis on player rest and recovery as being the cure for all ailments. Then see how things are after the Birmingham game and onwards.
That's probably the way to go about it if the board and Sadler are looking at the longer term of getting through this year, having sold Bowler and leaving everyone to fend for themselves pretty much. Relegation will cost but would also mean a lower cost base once the tranche of current player contracts end. Appleton is probably the right man for a cheap rebuild in league one with his loan contacts. It would suit him as well because he's always worked stronger from that base of being able to have his own squad who'll play for him, who only know his way.
I know you're on about loans but..... he's not the right man if we're honest for us, half the fans hate him, rational or not.
Personally I was fine, didn't let it bother me, happy to get behind him, tough hand but still made some mistakes but ok, some glimpses of good football too.
But it was a stupid decision to bring another ex manager back, Grayson was an ex club legend in some ways with the promotion etc, ok he left and also the nobbers part. That was still a poor appointment.
But Appleton never did anything good for BFC, left after no time and poor football to go to a local rival, played for the nobbers and joined after we again just lost another manager who did very well.
We should never have gone back for him as it was clear the fanbase had a bad dislike of him and what happened, plus the nobber part. He was always going to get less time, compounded by the injuries etc but some responsibility too for the poor football we have seen at times. It was never an appointment to put bums on seats, get people excited, although he was becoming accepted more but only ever some losses away from the told you so lot and dislike returning.
An ex player like an Evatt with Adam on the staff or something, something like that would have got people really excited and at least kept the feelgood factor.
To get a manager in who was known to be unpopular, would get less time, not to back him fully with the millions we got for the manager and Bowler was poor. He might just have turned it around with that backing, can't see how he does now.
