Doing well with the development squad. Yes, inexperienced but Critchley had only managed Liverpool u18s before he came to us and he did well for us. Can't be any worse than Appleton
Surely there is a clause in his contract, relegation zone ect we can’t be that stupid as a club.We can't get rid of him. He has a stupidly long contract so will be due a lot of compo to buy him out.

As said on another thread, it is a bit early but sometimes people are ready to step up.Doing well with the development squad. Yes, inexperienced but Critchley had only managed Liverpool u18s before he came to us and he did well for us. Can't be any worse than Appleton
Who's going to come to us worth their salt at this stage when we're looking more and more likely to be down there. That's the problem we'll have with someone experienced. Dobbie would be a gamble, but with an experienced no 2 like Thommo for eg, has huge advantages over someone new. Crowd buy in, huge lift, already here, knows the club and players, gets us, is available...If we’re gonna get rid of Appleton which I’m fine with then we really need some proper
Championship experience in a manager. Not dobbie.
If we did make a change and managed to get someone experienced in then great, but seems a bad time to do that for anyone new to learn the squad and we don't seem to pay what some of these managers require. This is not the job or time for a rookie. Nothing against Dobbie, I always liked watching him in tangerine but he is only a few months into a coaching role. We are a Championship club it's about time we started acting like one. We desperately need someone who knows this division, can come in, quickly appraise the squad and galvanise the whole club.
it’s just not a good idea to have dobbie who’s not actually a manager. Not in the situation we are in.If we did make a change and managed to get someone experienced in then great, but seems a bad time to do that for anyone new to learn the squad and we don't seem to pay what some of these managers require.
Plus experience didn't really work in some of our past appointments, infact only inexperience has worked. Sometimes you need to be brave and go for it. The lift of a former player, Dobbie with a number 2 of Thommo for eg would be huge. That lift alone might see us over the line. An experienced number 2 along side mitigates any issue of experience.
ExactlyPaying him off must be a lot less than getting relegated if we can stay up
Think that would send us down think we need an experienced manager who is a motivator to get the belief back who is tactically good in game.
No idea who fits the bill who is available or who we could poach with reasonable compensation. With paying off Appleton and poaching a decent manager it could cost 2-3 million but getting relegated would lose more in tv money.
GivePhil the job - he makes bigger statements than anyone else at BFCSurely there is a clause in his contract, relegation zone ect we can’t be that stupid as a club.
It might take 2-3 appointments/sackings before we get the right manAgreed.
We dropped a bollock signing Appleton in the first place. How he walked out of an interview with a four-year deal at a Championship club is beyond me.
Rosenior doing well at Hull, Duff winning back-to-back manager of the month awards and Evatt with a potential of two promotions in two seasons. All looking like missed opportunities.
I agree, but then I am left thinking, are they already accepting that we are likely to go down and will stick with MA for a League 1 campaign in the hope that we bounce back. I hope not, cos if so the remainder of the season is only going to get more toxic.Paying him off must be a lot less than getting relegated if we can stay up
I don't think it'll happen anyway, just saying now is not really an ideal time for a brand new guy to come in given we need to hit the ground running, it can take a bit for some to learn the players. As said one advantage Dobbie has is hes here and knows the club, staff and players. It's probably is too early ideally, but if called upon could do a job as caretaker with an experienced assistant and go from there. He can't do much worse than not win and put out odd team selections.it’s just not a good idea to have dobbie who’s not actually a manager. Not in the situation we are in.
Not true. There will be clauses regarding performance etc.We can't get rid of him. He has a stupidly long contract so will be due a lot of compo to buy him out.
There’s not many available that fit that bill, but I totally agree with you. Cardiff are thinking about bringing Warnock out of retirement to do what you describe. This is not the job or time for a rookie. Nothing against Dobbie, I always liked watching him in tangerine but he is only a few months into a coaching role. We are a Championship club it's about time we started acting like one. There are. He doesn’t get his contract paid up, as mentioned countless times on here. There is no financial reason for keeping him. Plenty of financial reasons to warrant sacking him immediately though. Not true. There will be clauses regarding performance etc.
Shocking comparisonffs, Blackpool fans becoming worse than Man City fans, want want want.
AgreedIt’s bizarre how most on here are critical of Grayson and Appleton getting a second go. Then all of a sudden think it’s ok with Thommo
Nope not the caseWe can't get rid of him. He has a stupidly long contract so will be due a lot of compo to buy him out.
Maybe he'll do the honourable thing and resign? We can't get rid of him. He has a stupidly long contract so will be due a lot of compo to buy him out.
I think what this thread proves is that we're probably fucked regardless, there's no real option.
I agree and no one decent is coming, just give Appleton a couple of decent players and fingers crossed.Nailed on relegation with Dobbie taking over.
Daft idea.
Nope not the case
That's the point I've been trying to makeI think what this thread proves is that we're probably fucked regardless, there's no real option.
Yep, no one who can do any better is coming. That's the point I've been trying to make
It really is futile all this Appleton out nonsense as there is no guarantee anybody else could do any better
Wigan are finding this
And some of the names mentioned on here are frankly ridiculous
Not going to dis Dobbie, but he has not yet got enough experience.Nailed on relegation with Dobbie taking over.
Daft idea.
May as well pick the team using a dartboard. As much likelihood to work out.
There’s no way of qualifying that… until he actually gets pottedYep, no one who can do any better is coming.
Fair enough. There’s no way of qualifying that… until he actually gets potted
That's based on absolutely nothing too.Nailed on relegation with Dobbie taking over.
Daft idea.

Plus the club would save MA's (& his coach's) doubtless high salaries, assuming there's a clause allowing dismissal if we are in the relegation zone. That's based on absolutely nothing too.
A lift in the group and fans and some sensible team selections might be all it takes.
Dobbie is looking a promising coach and is vastly experienced in playing the game, knows the club, is at the club, gets the fans, knows the current setup and players.

A new manager lift.If we want a lift let's get Russ Abbott in.
A new manager lift.
People claiming you have to be some sort of genius to pick a sensible team and make some obvious subs. Dobbie knows the game well, is coaching the youngsters well, setting them up right, motivating them etc. He is commanding, respected and likeable.
For me you can see he's got something about him.
