    Trump, Zelensky and Vance WOW!

I'd be thrilled if you were right. I'm not sure that Trump needs Elon's money anymore, and he's such an extreme narcissist I can't see him acknowledging any kind of leverage Elon might have, even the ones that are real like Starlink (you make a good point on that one). On the other side, Elon...

    Trump, Zelensky and Vance WOW!

That's a great question. Trump is easier to predict than Musk. Republican politicians usually just accept their scolding and keep their mouths shut when Trump turns on them. My guess is that Trump doesn't have a dramatic falling out, just pushes him aside, and Musk plays it off as "well, I...

    Trump, Zelensky and Vance WOW!

He can be removed by impeachment in the House of Representatives (requires just a majority vote) followed by conviction in the Senate (requires 66 of 100 votes). The latter has happened to him twice, once when he suspended military support to Ukraine in an effort to coerce Zelensky into opening...

    Trump, Zelensky and Vance WOW!

I think Musk's days are numbered, way too many people hate him now, and justifiably so. But I don't think that will cause Trump's coalition to implode; his supporters are very obedient. If he kicks Musk out, they'll all go back to being anti-Musk like they were before. You're right that...

    Trump, Zelensky and Vance WOW!

30%-35% of Americans really love the guy. Some people are impressed by overconfident tough-talking bullshitters. At least as many Americans completely despise him. Elections are ulimately decided by the people in the middle, most of whom don't pay close attention to politics. Democrats really...

    Trump, Zelensky and Vance WOW!

Yank here, haven't posted in forever. I'm sickened but sadly not at all surprised by this. A few things that I think are relevant: - Polls show around 65% of Americans in support of continuing military aid to Ukraine. Trump will take a domestic political hit for this. Unfortunately, he's turned...

Derby County v Blackpool Official Matchnight Thread 08.08.23

Now there's a fun challenge! How about 2014, Chopra and Eccleston, shortly after Paul Ince's sacking and in the middle of a three month winless run?

Southampton there for the taking ?

Saints make four changes today; two of those are debuts for their new January signings. Then they have us in 4 days, Newcastle again 3 days later, and back to fighting for survival 4 days after that. I think we'll be playing our best against the weakest side they could reasonably start.

BBC INTERVIEW: Blackpool head coach Mick McCarthy.

Absolutely. I remember always being excited to listen to Ollie's pre-match interview on the old website. Except for a brief period with Ince, there hasn't been a manger since who I actually wanted to hear interviewed, until now. It's a nice feeling, and gives us some optimism.

ANOTHER EVERTON: DIRECTORS CAN'T RUN A CLUB FOR TOFFEE

A better Everton analogy would be when they brought in Allardyce halfway through the season to keep them up, which he did (and then some). Difference here is that Everton pretended like it would maybe be a long term appointment, whereas BFC have given McCarthy a short term contract with the...

I Know Why He Was Sacked Today...

Fully agree on Nixon, though this time his claim that it was done weeks ago seems to directly contradict The Athletic's claim that we made an approach for Ramsay and were turned down. Unless that also happened weeks ago 🙄

    Mick McCarthy

Seems strange to go after Eric Ramsay, get turned down, and then have McCarthy as choice #2. Doesn't take a whole lot of money to move the betting odds when there isn't much interest or information.
