Dom Thompson to FGR on Loan

Do feel he needs to lose the "Prem Academy" player mindset at times. Prone to a little hissy fit
Started to feel like he wasn't best friends with the squad at times. Others in that role are actively looked for, Dom not so much.

Hopefully a drop down servers him well in a number of ways

Knowing his luck he'll turn up there for the unveiling with a bag of KFC.

If ever a player needs a run of games to try and get going it's this lad. I think Forest Green have switched to a back four since we played them and Troy Deeney took over so he shouldn't have the same workload if he's sat in at left back with a winger in front.

Was looking good for the first part when he got here. A shame he lost all his confidence after a couple of errors and from that point it seemed everytime he made a mistake it was costly.
A change will do him good and maybe he comes back more rounded.
Good luck Dom, and wish him all the best, don't see any reason to be negative about the guy.

Good he needed a move away.
He was by far the worst player on the pitch Weds, surprised he wasnt subbed at ht.
Not good enough for L1 or our squad.

Probably for the best as he's scapegoat number one from our clueless fans and the manager doesn't appear to give him a chance or consecutive matches to prove himself

Far too good for league 2 imo

I think he's too good for FGR.

I also think he has been a tough watch as of late and if we're serious about promotion we need a more consistent, rounded player in that position. All well and good saying he needs consecutive minutes, but if you're the worst player on the pitch in an EFL Trophy game against Burton, does he get the nod in a must-win league game a few days later? Positional/system woes notwithstanding.

There's a very good player in there. He needs a run of games and to learn to make sure a mistake doesn't derail his whole 90 mins.

Hopefully it'll work similar to the Matt Phillips loan to Sheff Utd years ago, as the system Critchley plays seems ideal for him and Lyons.

I suppose it doesn't help that we don't play with fullbacks

Didn't FGR send all of their previous loans back? If so, they will need to replenish their numbers. Good luck to DT. Needs regular football to rebuild confidence

It is not just the errors, anyone can make a mistake, it is poor decision making.
That header back to keeper from 40 yds was never going to work.

I agree. There's a decent player in there, otherwise Brentford wouldn't have signed him. Dom just needs the right coach and mentor.
It was funny though watching him take a throw in & forgetting to let go of the ball. Both them ended up on the pitch!
Good luck Dom.

Good luck and best wishes. A good run of games and a bit of confidence back ...and he will be back on the road to realising his potential. Hope he doesn't read this forum, as the sledging some players get on here is just plain rude, and may highly likely effect their confidence, ...which does no one any good. Almost becomes a self fulfilling prophesy 🤷

Got to disagree with you in part. I don't think he's good enough or shown enough for a regular starting place at this point in time. I'm afraid I saw him in the flesh on Wednesday night and he didn't persuade me otherwise.
Critch has got to manage squad numbers so with the addition of Coulson a move away was inevitible. Hopefully he'll get lots of game time and come back a better player.
Good luck Dom. 👍

He has only started 5 league games under Critchley

Is that enough to judge somebody on?

For Critchley it obviously was and after a full pre-season yet deciding to start the season with Callum Connolly at left wing back instead.

Basically kept it professional until he was able to move him on. But if ever a move shouted I'VE NO PLANS FOR YOU JUST GO it was the other night when he put him at left centre half and then left him out on the pitch hobbling about.

He could be a really good player if he is able to cut out the errors and get some consistency in his game. This is a make or break loan for him and I hope he can prove the doubters wrong.
Absolutely, he could be a great player but he needs to work on his decision making and composure. He only has doubters because of his poor performances but he definitely has ability, it's a good move for him to rebuild his confidence and hopefully come back in a better headspace 👍

It's a tough business but it is only loan. It's down to Dom now to prove himself.
He's too far down the pecking order at BFC currently so it's for the best.
No different from Apter really.

He had poor games under Appleton too. He wasn't convincing at Championship level (Ok quite a few of our players weren't either) and From what I've seen he always has at least one big mistake in him each game. Lost his head away at Shef. Utd last season too, being petulant and got himself sent of stupidly.

I can’t ever get out my head that McAtee goal at home last year.

Any ‘defender’ that lets someone run the whole length of the pitch without tackling him is not a defender and has rocks for brains for me.

Hope the move works out but glad we’ve got rid.

Wow, no way I was expecting him to go to a League 2 club battling relegation. That's a big coup for them, he played a lot of games in the Championship only last season

His head’s gone. He won’t make it Pool because just about every mistake he has made has cost a goal. I wish him well !

Bundle of energy and fit as a fiddle, it's just a shame his judgement sometimes left him at key moments. There's a good player in Dom Thompson, and I hope he does well for FGR. Best of luck to the guy.
Motm in the previous cup game and there's a player in there so same here good luck to him.
