That no longer exist. Some goodies amongst the runners and riders. favourite of mine. Highbury . And this was a slide of thirty two. GAY meadow . Shrewsbury old ground. BUT the winner has to be YOUNG BOYS of Switzerland at the now defunct WANKDORF stadium.the mind boggles at this one. Hosted the 1954 World Cup Final. Their current gaff is named thew same apparently. WOULD you not change the name.

Went to Highbury in 1998 or whenever it was for our FA Cup game with them. Lovely old ground. Loved Highfield Road too. Tidy ground that didn't really need to go.

Some needed to go. Springfield Park was a dump, Saltergate another although it had a certain charm (toilets aside)

its worth a look. scunnys old ground . coventry is on the list. HIGHBURY. been there in 1999. some fantastic ones. 120.000 plus one ground. just been on the thread

When I was a boy I used to read my uncles football annuals. They included such names as the great 3rd Lanark. I'd have loved to have seen them play at their place - Cathkin Park. Originally it was used as the home of Queens Park and was, in fact the second Hampden Park. When they moved to the current (3rd) Hampden in 1903, 3rd Lanark moved into it. Some of the terracing still exists and minor league football matches are played on it.

The old Deepdale - actually managed to go in 3 of the old stands (Town end, West Stand and Kop) watching BFC and remember the old Kop end being incredibly steep

Gresty Road is alright. Bizarre as it's got one large stand and 3 tiny ones. Wouldn't call it a shithole though. It's a good away day is Crewe

Did any posters go to the original Den? I never went although I have been to the new one.
Born in South London & if ever Blackpool came down my dad would take me. Probably around 1968, Blackpool won, but even back then I remember my dad dragging me along at the final whistle & cars being smashed up. Apparently their Chairman's showroom.
The Old Valley was another, lovely hot tomato soup & terracing that seemed to be going up to the sky.

Went twice in late 60s early 70s . The supporters coach pulled up outside the ground and there was a welcoming committee waiting , they pulled up there trousers to show off the huge knives down there socks. A bit worrying when I look back ! .

me AND my son were recalling away days lastnight. . Doncaster came up. the old Belle Vue was renamed the Earth stadium . Went there in the earliy noughties. Opening day. Talk about warm. Steven said you could have called the centre of the earth stadium it was so hot. And the cheeky sods were charging two pounds for a bottle of water. Baking hot on the bus back. OH and i think it was 2 0 to donny. And a ropy pub before . locals were using hatchets for darts. only joking with that . but it was one warm away day. Anyone else do that one.

If that was the match in which Saša Ilić was ever so helpful to Donny then yes, I was there. I was also there for a cup match around 1980. That day was f-ing cold and we were garbage.

Sasa Ilic in nets, Hendry's first game in charge. Shocker.

This lad has several videos on these grounds. The remains of Cathkin park are still there.

WANK is German for masturbate. DORF means village.

I did, bloody terrifying
My first trip was that one in 1978 that TOON referred too. Very intimidating.

My worst experience there was my second one, a couple of years later for a night game (I think we drew).

I got the train to New Cross and walked up to the pub on the corner of the Old Kent Road. I think it's called The White Hart.

When I walked in the place fell more or less silent. I ordered a pint and the barman said :

"Just having the one".

"Probably" I said.

"I was suggesting, not asking", said he.

I didn't stop long. There was a lot of old, derelict property around the old ground, and you could hear people moving around in the shadows as you walked up the main road. Spooky was not the word for it.

The new ground is pretty anodyne, by comparison.

We went on a Tuesday night on one of Ossies supporters club coaches, that bugger had arranged for himself to go straight in the ground about 5pm for a jolly, his parting words were "careful what pubs you go in"
After the game police got on the coach to escort us out of the area, I remember driving under some flyovers and Millwall fans dropping paving slabs onto the coach. Lovely chaps.

Wank village? Are the twinned with Preston?
Went to see Kerala blasters in October when I was in India, considering cricket is religion over there the crowd was 30500, best supported team in India & nicknamed the dortmund of the east due to the wall of sound & the kit, fans rushing in 5 hours before kickoff was mental & a dodgy lad selling knockoff shirts outside the stadium, 200 irp so around £2 !

I do remember 2001 going to the long defunct Feethams . Darlington V Blackpool . play off game. danny shittu hiiting the winner. i thibk it was danny . anyone else there / point being/ poor Darlington were promised rhe earth. and heres an anamoly . It did get used - it was just too big and after they fell into non-league they couldn't afford it's upkeep

Gay Meadow was a quaint ground right on the banks of the Severn

They used to have someone in a boat to collect balls mis-hit into the river

We played a pre season game at that new ground, with Alan McGregor from Rangers in goal.

That other game you mention at Feethams was when we won 3 1, with Wellens scoring two. Can't remember the other scorer though. We finished and gathered round a radio to listen to the end of the Plymouth v Rochdale game. Rochdale had to win to pip us to the playoffs and Plymouth had a 16 year old debutant in goal. Funny what you remember, given I couldn't tell you what I had for tea last night.
