Season Over

Anyone who thinks this is fcuking delusional, it’s February 3rd.

Did we play well? No. But we shouldn’t have lost that game if it wasn’t for our 2nd unlucky deflection. Roll on Oxford. We’ve had a good start to 2023, I remember a similar loss to Ipswich in Feb 2021

You must be deluded. We’re 6 points behind the team in the last playoffs place having played 2 games more and having seemingly lost our top scorer for the foreseeable….you don’t work for the club do you by any chance?

It’s not season over yet but we have put ourselves in a position where we have to go on a near faultless run for 16 games, whilst others have to drop points.

Only have to look at todays results to show the latter is possible, Oxford drawing at home, Peterborough losing at home, Barnsley & Bolton cancelling each other out. It’s whether the first point can be done that I’m more concerned about.

So we lost ground to all but 1of our 7 competitors, season over

Yeah…we will magically start getting results away from home. And Kelly Brook is cooking my tea in her undercrackers.

Stop being reasonable, the angry brigade want their time in the sun and they're taking no prisoners, be afraid...

Agree about it not quite being over yet, but it's not looking good though and it probably will be over soon.

But unlucky deflection? You make your own luck with them ones at times and Marv again dangles a foot out and diverts it towards goal. That is asking for trouble.

He gets his feet in a right mess at times so it's not surprising.

Reasonable. Look at our away record and open your eyes. There is no chance bar a miraculous turn in away form that we will reach the play- offs .
Of course there is a chance. This is football, things like that change so regularly its barely even a stretch. I reckon someone not there now will go on a run and make the playoffs probably at the expense of Stevenage who were pretty hopeless too considering they're unbeatable at home. It might not be us, but if it was it'd be far from make a movie about it material.

League season is over. 2 points per game average required now for us whilst the 6th place team currently need to be getting less than 1.4 points a game. * based on average 6th place points total for the last 5 seasons.
Delusional to think the league season is not over.

The odds bookies are offering for us to make the play offs will give us all an idea how delusional we are ?

Todays loss feels worse than it is.

Stevenage are no mugs and are in that position on merit. It’s ugly but effective.

I still think they can have that run where they lose ground.

Plenty of games to go and lots of points to play for. Any of the top 6 can drop off and go on a bad run, it happens every season. We’ve just got to make sure we are still within touching distance and hopefully go on a run ourselves.

Signs have been better since the turn of the year. The inconsistencies have been there for all to see but approaching the business end, there is all to play for.

It is irritating when people get their knickers in a twist after a defeat but there is no need to start waving the white flag at this point.

It's definitely the away from home formation and mentality that's failed us.
We have played 13 away league games and only picked up 13 points and average of 1 point a game. You need to average at least 2 points a game for promotion form. If we had done we would be 13 points better off on 59 points which would sit us 2nd. Critch is always about the stats.
So why can't he read into these facts and realise that he's set up away from home isn't working.
He boasts about how good we are from home yet he still hasn't changed our formation and tactics away from home. All he changes is player for player and that has ultimately cost us a chance of promotion.

Did anyone think we’d not lose any of our remaining 17 games before today?

We’ve fucked it up today no doubts but we can go on a run.

BTW, we’ll probably lose again out the last 16 games.
I hope you don't mind, AK, but I feel an over-powering need to edit the closing line of the above post.

I basically feel, it should read as follows: "BTW, I can state with 'absolute certainty' we will lose again during the remaining 16 games."

Can I 'ave some of whatever you're indulging in, Pun_1?

11-1 suggests that it's far from over then.

Bye Neil

Funnily enough Nobbers were saying their season was over about 3 weeks ago
Wanted Lowe out, not going again whilst he is still in charge etc etc etc.
This year we have got 13 points out of a possible 18. That is over 2 points a game and if we maintain that then we could reach 82 points. 6 of our remaining games are against teams above so the season is wide open.
There really are some miserable bar stewards on this forum.

I’m positive usually but play offs seem unlikely after that result. Even if we won 5 games on the bounce (which we won’t with our away form) we wouldn’t be in the play offs. We are counting on one of the top 6 to lose 3/4 games in quick succession which is unlikely. They haven’t done that all season. The season isn’t over because it’s football and we could go on a run but watching us this season we are short tactically away from home and games are running out.

Unpopular opinion - another season in league one might not be end of the world. I think if we got promoted we’d really struggle with this squad in championship. Maybe better to do a Bolton and just miss out just then go for automatic next year after another transfer window of strengthening.

We haven’t been top six all season. Stop deluding yourself
I’m not deluding myself just not being dramatic & acting like a child.

Do I think we’ll make the play-offs? Probably not… we’re too naive and soft at times.

Can we do it with 16 games left ? Course we can, teams above dropped points today, Stevenage are 6 infront with a game in hand… they aren’t gonna win every game. They didn’t deserve to today but granted they won ugly as fook. They won’t have that luck much again.

To do it we would need to go on a very decent run & I think we are capable of it.

A few big games coming up. Saying our season is over in February being 7 points off 5th in 8th place with 16 games to go is flakier than CJ in a 50/50 and soft as fook.

This is not deluding yourself.

Yes, in the ticket office.🤣

People are entitled to believe the season is over! Do you honestly believe on today's performance that we're going on a run of form that will enable us to catch up with the teams above?

If so your deluded

Bottom line is Critch doesn't have the know how, or the ability to take us up without experience holding his hand, he can't even pick a team! He most likely only sent on Lavery because the crowd were singing his name..

I agree with Joey Rex above, it might be a blessing in disguise to not go up this season. If we did fluke it then I reckon we would really struggle in the championship with this squad.
Having said that I'd still prefer to be in the championship though

But we aren’t just seven points adrift of 5th place. They have a game in hand so could go 10 points ahead of us. Stevenage are above us and have two games in hand. At what point does reality bite?
