Rainbow matchballs this Saturday.

Pathetic, saw the bloke from the Football League talking about it before, his first few words were along the lines of "when some people walk into a football stadium, they don't feel inclusive."

He mentioned talking to different football fans groups, why not give what majority of football fans want instead of pandering to the few.

🙄
Perhaps they are the few because they're afraid to walk into football grounds.

What do the majority of football fans want? Not rainbow coloured balls? Why does it bother you if it’s a rainbow coloured ball? And if that’s making someone else feel included how’s that not a good thing?

It’s all a load of bollocks to be honest, but this is the kind of shallow tokenism that seems to have summed up the last decade or so.

Why the fuck do gay people feel like they can’t go and comfortably watch a football game in 2024 and which ** idiot thinks that the solution to that problem is putting rainbows on footballs???

Maybe next week we can solve world hunger by holding up our phones with the lights on on the 43rd minute or deal with the homeless issue by lighting a fart.

I despair at this society …. We’re absolutely pathetic 👎

If they really wanna do something to make it more inclusive they’d crack down on any homophobic chanting (the ‘tangerine, tangerine..’ chant springs to mind) - token gestures mean nothing. Henderson and his rainbow armband, the World Cup armbands where they could have made a stand all spring to mind

Do you disagree? Is there not a place in football grounds for 'other' people? Gay people, Asian people , camp people? Yes, it would be odd I'd some of these people didn't want to be involved. But is it wrong if they did?
Yes, but just get on with it, rather than shouting from the ** roof tops every two minutes.
Continue as normal, as if nothing to see here. All this not inclusive stuff is OTT, in my opinion.

What a load of shit. I walk into the North, usually on the late side & see all sorts of shapes, sizes & occasionally non white faces but just think they're seasiders like me. I'd think I'm run of the mill & not weighing up who may or might be gay. Why do you invent things that are absolute bollocks.

Of course there’s a place for everyone at a football ground. But if you think a rainbow coloured ball/cornerflag/laces etc will make anyone feel more welcome you’re absolutely mental.
If u haven’t noticed, most people couldn’t give a flying fcuk about others colour or sexuality.
Trying to solve a problem that barely exists through token gestures. Pathetic

I couldn't give a toss if it's a rainbow or anything else. If it helps to getting others into the ground who might not otherwise, then fair enough.

I'm curious as to why people get so hot under the collar over this kind of thing though. Does it really impact on you personally?
I’m curious as to why you think a rainbow coloured football will get one more person into a football ground? Trust me, it won’t.

Being decent is all about doing good, rather than being seen to do good. This definitely falls into the latter

More widely...
I don't understand how people on the left of the political spectrum in general profoundly dislike large businesses, corporations and capitalism, but the second such organisations basically exploit the experiences of minorities for a cheap win, all style no substance, virtue signalling publicity exercise in the hope of boosting profits, they're the first to applaud them

Just going to Qatar and probably Saudi soon is hardly inclusive.

Hadn't thought about it until now but surely kicking a white ball is racist against whites. They need to alternate the ball colour so all creeds get a good kicking.
