Was Critchley applauding fans as they boo’ed?

It sounded pretty lour to me and he made an extended stay. I hear what you are saying but he is losing the fans and that can only lead to one thing. His tactics were shocking again today.
It was loud and he did make an extended stay, why l don’t know 🤷‍♂️.I was on my way down the steps in the North when it happened and a lot of the remaining fans made it absolutely clear that today was not acceptable and he was always on a hiding to nothing with that team selection.

Players I’d release in the summer:

Connolly, Husband, Norburn, Virtue, Carey, Hamilton, Lavery, Beesley, Kouassi, Joseph

All of them not good enough for a top 6 league one team. New manager like Michael Duff or Peter Wild wouldn’t go amiss either
To be fair you don’t know that, whether for example, does Norburn play to instructions 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

It seemed to get louder the longer he stayed there.

That assistant manager, who ever he is was seen saying "why are they booing?"
Maybe if he watched our negative, slow, lazy, no movement off the ball, half hearted challenges, time wasting, keeper as playmaker, boring shite then he would know exactly why we are booing.

Maybe if the management all resign, we will cheer for you.

So boring and predictable watching that awful formation today.
I’ve just listened to his interview - was more downcast than he normally is and felt like he was resigned to knowing he can’t get much more out of this group. Said all the right things re keep fighting etc but you get the feeling he knows this season is done and he is looking at next season

He lost me a little while ago but today was very special simply because we needed to win and there is no coming back for him today with me.
In the real world come substitution time and a roll of the dice you would sacrifice a defender or an MF and get a striker on.
Yes go for it with 3 upfront so now either he has been instructed to keep us in this division at all costs or he truly is the biggest cnut ever.

Why take two strikers off and replace them with one?
Only a few booing in the North, most didn't do anything with only some clapping. It was another poor performance, we are just so toothless.
Brilliant comment.

Hopefully elsewhere.

He couldn't really win in that situation. If he hadn't gone over then he'd be called a coward.

Not everyone was booing.
He could. A quick clap to thank support and get off, no drama.

He did that to start and then when he got some shit, he deliberately over clapped and did it for about 15-20 seconds longer than he needed to.

It’s not a massive thing but I just thought what a little gimp he was doing it.

I was watching as I left my seat in the South. The North had half emptied by the time he applauded them, and about half of those remaining were booing. Bizarrely he just seemed to carry on clapping at the fans for another 30 seconds or so, rather than leaving the pitch with the players.

On a separate note, I really fear for next seasons attendances if he's still here. I didn't think there was anything like 10,171 there today (including ST'S not present of course).

The atmosphere was very flat and quiet today, and with little (for even the usually vocal North) to shout about and little likelihood of him Changing anything, I worry that a few won't bother.

Things just seem very stale around the club at the moment, I really hope there's a total reset after the season ends

Critchley sacked is the first thing that needs to happen

I think that was one of the most uncomfortable scenes I’ve ever seen at a game. He had to go over and clap as if he hadn’t he’d have been lambasted.
However he just seemed to stand still staring for a good two minutes clapping whilst getting pelters.

I’ve no idea why he didn’t just do a little clap and get off the pitch?

Then again I have no idea why he persists with 3 centre backs against teams as shit as Wycombe?

It was really bizarre and confrontational. it was really uncomfortable watching.

I think the clapping and the 3 centre back persistence sums up the arrogance of the little milk monitor.

For me, that was done out of pure arrogance today applauding the fans sarcastically for and extended period of time.

I’ve always supported Critchley but if he thinks today and this season has been acceptable he needs to have a huge reality check.

His manager now has to step in unless mediocrity is our target and I think lots of people may speak with their feet when it comes to next years season tickets.

It was a bit awkward but there was some clapping aswell. He did seem to stay there for a while but I remember thinking that is exactly what I would have done too in that situation.
End of the day it matters not. He's going nowhere but fans feelings have been made clear too so we now move on and hopefully do better on saturday

Be careful Joe I was chastised for calling him a coward a couple of months ago by the all-knowing BFCx3
He has been called it a few times by others since but I have her on ignore so I don't know if you will feel her wrath 😉🤗
If bfcx3 is a women she is an ugly one 🤣

Whilst l can bizarrely come to terms with our league position l cannot and will not accept the poor week in and week out performances. This league is awful and we knew that before a ball was kicked but I’m struggling to understand why we have a team of players so utterly void of any ideas, leadership, technical ability etc. to unlock even the shitiest teams in this league. Everyone is performing well below their acceptable standard they know it and we know it yet Critchley seems to do nothing about it and no wonder he got pelters at the end enough is enough now!

I've noticed when I've been sat in the west for the cup games this season that he doesn't cope well with the fans shouting normal fan stuff. Lots of exaggerated clapping of players passing it back and head shaking in reaction to comments.

Remember that he'll be used to no crowd pressure from his youth team days. It's also worth noting that his promotion season here was behind closed doors. This is where an experienced no 2 would be able to advise him to ignore it, imo. It's as if he doesn't think anything but fawning praise should come from the paying fans.

This is spot on. One of the Pizza Cup games he was staring at someone.

He couldn’t believe it at Cods away either when Critchley sort it out got chanted, I watched him stare over at the terrace in shock … but at least it made him make a half-team sub.

It’s almost as if he can’t believe we have the cheek to question him.

That depends where the microphones are. From where I was there weren't a huge number booing.

I'm in the North. It was noticeable but not loud. Depends what your agenda is I suppose. If we don't win the next 2 it will get louder for sure.

How times change, think it was west brom away where he stood staring at the fans with tears in his eyes as they gave him complete adulation.

No agenda, it was his reaction to it, it was just weird, it wasn't like I deserve it but you are great it was more a I don't care what you think, phuck you.

I honestly did not see it like that. There were some applause and some boos. I don't think he quite knew what to do tbh. Certainly didn't see it as arrogance or even defiance.

For a good minute, staring hard at them. Bit of a stand off to me. He has lost the supporters now, that's it for any manager.
Bit of a fitting finale, really. Because, while the vast majority of our fans have made no secret of their 'stand off-ish' attitude towards the manager, he, in turn, is letting them know, quite clearly, that the feeling is fully reciprocated ...
