I think we look stronger at the back without him. In this horrible tactic, our best 3 are Pennington, Marv, Casey by a country mile. We've gone right off the boil since Hubby got injured.
As has been JerryYeah been a huge loss.
there was a player with a shot on him.Think we're missing Stan McEwan tbh
Carey Morgan virtue Byers completely different types of players, none of them used particularly well by critchley. Norburn is a massive weak link, slow, no recovery, cant tackle, cant read the game, rarely makes interceptions, cant pass forward. Every single midfielder that plays alongside him has to compensate for his basic inadequacies, hence their performances are less than we would expect. Our midfield has been the problem all season.
Norburn, Carey, Morgan, Virtue, Wier, Byers are all one and the same. You can swap one for another with no noticeable effect on the team.
Kenny had a bit of energy about him, got forward and more importantly had a goal in him.
Moderately effective in the first season with Wintle, Stewart and Connolly alongside him, couldn't hold it together by himself with a bunch of kids last season.Great in League 1, ineffective in the championship
It's never been the same since Jimmy Hampson drownedThink we're missing Stan McEwan tbh
I think he leaves the very experienced players who have played at a high level alone (Rhodes/Keogh types) and is confident with the young players who have grown up in the game during the obsessive period of stats and game plans and shape graphs and iPads.I liked and appreciated Kenny Dougall, but it was clear he wasn't playing to his capabilities or looking like he was enjoying his football here.
We will never know wether that had anything to do with Critchley.
Same could now be said about a number of our players.
Jerry and Dougall both ousted for being too vocalAs has been Jerry
Interesting Mosser....was that a rumour or something a bit more substantial?Jerry and Dougall both ousted for being too vocal
Nah, they wanted to get on and didn't see it happening with Blackpool.Jerry and Dougall both ousted for being too vocal
Spot on...Jerry and Dougall both ousted for being too vocal
Let's not turn Kenny Dougall into some kind of Steve Gerrard. Our midfield has been the problem all season.

Defo agree with your comments on Norburn and how that affects the other midfielders.Carey Morgan virtue Byers completely different types of players, none of them used particularly well by critchley. From the North you can see how it appears like he his moving to receive the ball, whilst getting into a position next to or behind an opposition player so he can’t actually receive the ball.I'm gobsmacked people haven't twigged how bad Nogood is. He's 33 next week so he isn't going to get fitter, faster or better. A massive let down. I challenge anybody who still sticks up for him if you happen to actually go to a game and watches him off the ball. Something you don't see on a TV screen. He jogs around avoiding the ball when he can. He is so slow (or lazy?) he just points to someone else when tha ball comes near him. He has no bottle either, he shirks challenges and the Wigan defeat when he should have blocked the cross for the goal he ducked out of the way!!! Imagine Keith Southern doing that?
He wasn't a striker though was he?! How old are ya? Or even an attacking midfielder. He said out loud that Critch didnt let him get into advanced, shooting positions.Let's not turn Kenny Dougall into some kind of Steve Gerrard.
Apart from his never-to-be-forgotten two goals in the Play-Off Final victory, he only scored 6 goals in the other 128 games that he played for us!
FFS, 20togo would've bagged a few more than that based on his remarkable goal-scoring record with Kingsfield back in the 70s and 80s, when men were men playing with a lot heavier balls...
the ‘Spearing’ roleI'm gobsmacked people haven't twigged how bad Nogood is. He's 33 next week so he isn't going to get fitter, faster or better. A massive let down. Critchley has put is faith in the wrong player. Making Norburn captain when he has worked with Husband, Dougall and Ekpiteta in his first spell was bound to create some friction in the squad.I'm gobsmacked people haven't twigged how bad Nogood is. 32 in November according to his Wiki.I'm gobsmacked people haven't twigged how bad Nogood is. He's 33 next week so he isn't going to get fitter, faster or better. A massive let down. Dougall wanted to go as soon as Appleton stiffed him of his once in a life time chance of going to a world cup. He only ended up starting the season because of Cricthley. And started the season well. We are now seeing how much we miss him/someone like him.Jerry and Dougall both ousted for being too vocal
Any evidence behind that though? Seems completely untrue if you ask me.Jerry and Dougall both ousted for being too vocal
No there is none - Kenny was close to NC.Any evidence behind that though? Seems completely untrue if you ask me.
That’s what I thought, also. Was very clear that Jerry and Critchley had good relations when he returned, before Jerry left of course. No there is none - Kenny was close to NC.
When we played PeterboroughI think as others have said he (Critchley) identified Norburn as the piece of the jigsaw he wanted to hold the midfield together. And in Norburn he saw an experienced player at L1 who was well regarded . . . blah de blah. I've never been one for getting on players backs, jumping on the Carey/Connolly/Ekpiteta are crap bandwagon. Of course like most I've had the odd moan or gripe but Norburn and his inclusion in the team drives me round the twist. The way he jogs around all important but not lowering himself to get stuck in or showing leadership or commitment but either going for the easy tap backward and when forced to go forward giving it away.
He's plain lazy and you can imagine he's not popular at all the way he shouts at others to do stuff that goes against their natural game. I'm 100% certain Kenny was pissed off being left out for him. I'm also thinking that the other senior players you've mentioned are too put out by his Billy big bollocks attitude, which is all well and good if you are all that. In the past we've brought in senior experienced leaders who have seemingly been humble, helpful and phenomenal for team building etc. Jordan Rhodes for one is of that ilk. Norburn just seems like a disruptive influence.
perhaps getting rid of Norburn is why Peterborough now move the ball a lot quicker?!!!When we played Peterborough
At home you could see why they let him go their midfield moved the ball alot quicker
@Udo_onwere That's more than likely correct. My info came from Fotmob, though it has been known to be wrong on more than the odd occasion.
Which makes you wonder why isn't he in the form of his life? I reckon at 32 I was fitter and stronger than any other time in my life.
i think if citchley stays, what talent we might have will leave and 6 or 7 norburnesque players will be bought in to fulfill the critchley mantra of solidity (and slightlylower than you would expect) possession. From the North you can see how it appears like he his moving to receive the ball, whilst getting into a position next to or behind an opposition player so he can’t actually receive the ball.
Didn’t realise he was 33. I’d move him on but as he is under contract that would require a fee and I can’t see anyone doing that so likely we will have another season of him.
Ah right the Blackpool medical team strikes again. Sign a crock who will never again get back to his decent L1 standard and let Colby Bishop go because he had a twisted sock. Then go on to sign Joseph who was injured, the lad from Southampton who is still injured and the lad from Burnley who is still injured. He was out for the better part of a year with a knee injury, and only came back at the end of February.
The other thing that really bugs me about him is his standing over the ball at potentially dangerous freekicks (for us), and getting close to the taker at corners, obviously trying to impart his "captain's experience".I'm gobsmacked people haven't twigged how bad Nogood is. He's 33 next week so he isn't going to get fitter, faster or better. A massive let down. Behave Voyeur, you facetious old fartthe subject was midfielders not strikers! He wasn't a striker though was he?! How old are ya? Or even an attacking midfielder. He said out loud that Critch didnt let him get into advanced, shooting positions.
Penalty to Blackpool... "Stanley, Stanley, Stanley"Think we're missing Stan McEwan tbh
Couldn't agree more. His outstretched arms protest to the referee when he kicks someone in the chest or pulls his opponent's shorts off as they jog past him comes a close secondThe other thing that really bugs me about him is his standing over the ball at potentially dangerous freekicks (for us), and getting close to the taker at corners, obviously trying to impart his "captain's experience".
Yeah but Stevie G was never instructed not to shoot by Critch, or by anybody else for that matter. And he wasn't a holding player. And some of the best midfielders don't score much. If you hold a side together, scoring isn't so important....Behave Voyeur, you facetious old fartthe subject was midfielders not strikers!
'Stevie G' definitely had a goal in him eg., 120 goals in 504 games for The Reds, that's about 1 every 4 games.
Whereas King Kenny scored 8 in 129 games for our beloved Tangerines, that's about 1 every 16 games.
Obviously referring to th'old scrote Twenties (who was a great striker in Sunday League football back in the day and he'll back me up on that), threw you off your guard somewhat!!
