Thanks for everything Marv

Fantastic defender if a bit dodgy with his feet at times. Scored his fair share too.

Can easily cut it at Championship level at a team who don't have an obsession with playing out from the back, if they exist anymore.

Shame to see him leave but wish him all the best in his next move.

Yep , good luck to him. Gave me the willies on the ball occasionally but a Championship level defender.

Letting arguably our best defender go cos he doesn’t fit the formation our dickhead manager insists on playing
Is it really that or did he not want to take the new deal offered?

The real 'issue' for me is that we're letting him (and Lavery to some extent) go for free when 2 seasons ago they'd both have commanded a decent fee that could be reinvested back into the squad.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. If we'd sold them them it would have been a sign of lack of ambition.

Big Marv will be a big miss, our best defender and good enough for the Championship, but he doesn’t fit Critchleys shit formation.
Just because people keep saying it, doesn't make it right.

Marv was our best defender, regardless of formation. He hasn't left because he didn't fit the formation, he's gone because he thinks he can get a better deal elsewhere.

Thank you Marv for everything you have done. Those telescopic legs were amazing.

Good luck to him wherever he ends up unless it’s PKE in which case he can do one 🤣

Yeah, any excuse to bash critchley I suppose 😂
Marv is a great defender, but hes not a ball playing CB, i hope to see him get signed by a Championship club, im sure he will

I personally don't think the formation or Manager is behind him leaving, he is a championship player and will probably move on and double his Wages. Thanks for your efforts Marv all the Best

First 2 seasons was class. Since then been a bit skeptical of him but still feel he’ll be the hardest to replace.

Prime age and obviously thinks he should be playing higher so hope he gets a decent move.

A good player for us and some good memories, however it's time to move on.

The game is more technical and you have to have that ability on the ball as well, as good as his defending can be, some of his control and passing is dreadful.

We need to build a side all comfortable on the ball and good footballers.

If you look at sides like Ipswich that have gone up and done very well they built their side in league 1 and refined the style, stuck with it and added to it once up.

You can't have any weak links really.

A gentleman and great servant to our glorious club. He wasn't player of the season for no reason. Good luck in your new venture Marvin, you'll always receive a warm welcome from me IF you ever return to Bloomfield Road.
Good luck for the future, I'm sure it will be bright for you.

Amen

He was a really good defender and seemed a really nice guy. It's just that footballing limitation and if we want to play like we need to really.

Shame we didn't get the memo to clap them off at the end of the last game.

I'm sure we'll see him back at Bloomfield Road when he's retired at some point.

Been saying it for 18 months. You play him in a 4 along side another ball playing centre half and he signs another 2 year deal. He will go on to a new team now, play in a back 4 and he will look like the defender he was back in 2021.

i'm disappointed to see to him go; i like defenders who love defending and he was very good at it, especially when paired with someone like ballard or keogh.

as an aside, although we may not have seen him to best effect in a back 3, i often think back to the start of the season when norburn was sitting far too deep and putting him under needless pressure with some silly (sometimes hospital) passes. it did him, and the team, no favours.

i'd much rather focus on the positives though, and there's been plenty.

so thanks marv, and good luck.

Stop making stuff up he was offered a new contract ages ago but didn't sign.
Would you? In a system not suited to him, in a team not capable of implementing the system with no plan b. It’s a short career, I work hard and I’d want to enjoy my football. I’d be off in a shot in his shoes.
