Stop making stuff up he was offered a new contract ages ago but didn't sign.Letting arguably our best defender go cos he doesn’t fit the formation our dickhead manager insists on playing
Is it really that or did he not want to take the new deal offered?Letting arguably our best defender go cos he doesn’t fit the formation our dickhead manager insists on playing
Damned if you do, damned if you don't. If we'd sold them them it would have been a sign of lack of ambition. Is it really that or did he not want to take the new deal offered?
The real 'issue' for me is that we're letting him (and Lavery to some extent) go for free when 2 seasons ago they'd both have commanded a decent fee that could be reinvested back into the squad.
Just because people keep saying it, doesn't make it right.Big Marv will be a big miss, our best defender and good enough for the Championship, but he doesn’t fit Critchleys shit formation.
Agreed, but if the model is 'invest, develop, sell & reinvest' then surely that's what you need to do?Damned if you do, damned if you don't. If we'd sold them them it would have been a sign of lack of ambition.
This is the same Marv who played in a back 4 last season and was garbage?Big Marv will be a big miss, our best defender and good enough for the Championship, but he doesn’t fit Critchleys shit formation.
Been a superb servant to this club, all the very best to you Big MarvAbsolutely brilliant when on his game, thanks Marv and good luck for the future

Yeah, any excuse to bash critchley I supposeJust because people keep saying it, doesn't make it right.
Matv was our best defender, regardless of formation. He hasn't left because he didn't fit the formation, he's gone because he thinks he can get a better deal elsewhere.
That’s the scary thing, Critchley not seeing that playing him in a 2 would have been better for Marv and the team.Letting arguably our best defender go cos he doesn’t fit the formation our dickhead manager insists on playing
Every player is garbage when theyre here and irreplaceably brilliant when they leaveThis is the same Marv who played in a back 4 last season and was garbage?
As he had no protection from midfield.
True enough, but that's not happening if a player won't sign another deal.Agreed, but if the model is 'invest, develop, sell & reinvest' then surely that's what you need to do?
And no clubs come in for him.True enough, but that's not happening if a player won't sign another deal.
He didn't want to sign we didn't let him go it was his choiceLetting arguably our best defender go cos he doesn’t fit the formation our dickhead manager insists on playing
Think it may be more of a case that he has a better offer on the table. If not, I'd like to think we'd have kept him.Letting arguably our best defender go cos he doesn’t fit the formation our dickhead manager insists on playing
He was a really good defender and seemed a really nice guy. It's just that footballing limitation and if we want to play like we need to really.Amen
Cheers Marv!
He wasn't very good at first. Then he was really good. Then he got even better. Then he was brilliant. Suddenly he wasn't as good any more. ...mclfoot.blogspot.com
the fact he was our player of the season when we came mid table in the championship would suggest otherwise.Disney/Wrexham bound?
Not good enough for championship IMO
Like a few others - Lyons, Casey, Joseph, Gabriel and Dembele for early part of the season!Been a really good defender for us. Has been let down by Critchley and his formation, as most of our better players have been.
Would you? In a system not suited to him, in a team not capable of implementing the system with no plan b. It’s a short career, I work hard and I’d want to enjoy my football. I’d be off in a shot in his shoes.Stop making stuff up he was offered a new contract ages ago but didn't sign.
Ditto.the fact he was our player of the season when we came mid table in the championship would suggest otherwise.
More made up nonsense.Would you? In a system not suited to him, in a team not capable of implementing the system with no plan b. It’s a short career, I work hard and I’d want to enjoy my football. I’d be off in a shot in his shoes.
