Will Brighton go weak?

Well short of getting the points they need to feel comfortable in the Premier League, will they rest some players especially as they have a proper '6 pointer' against Fulham the following week.

They play Fulham 4 days after us, about as close to a 6 pointer as you're gonna get that game.

I remember watching a thing with Big Sam a while ago, an expert in all things Premier League relegation, he said how you are outright told by owners to not care about any cup competition as staying in the Premier League is the main focus as its where all the money is. I believe he may have been talking about Villa when they went on their cup run last year, I am going to trust him on that one and we should see a severely weakened Brighton side!

What a change from the time we won the FA Cup . Sir Stanley Matthews in his book said that clubs used league games as basically warm up matches for the great knockout competition . Winning the Cup carried far greater prestige than winning the league back then .

They’re 5 points off the bottom three and both Burnley and Fulham, who they play on Saturday, have two games in hand.

I don’t think they’ll play their youth team, but they’re unlikely to play their strongest team.

It'll be their bench, plus the spine of the starting 11 I guess. Prem clubs have such big squads whichever 11 they put out, will start as massive favourites, which is just fine by me. I just hope some of our injured players recover in time for this match, although I certainly wouldn't risk any who aren't quite right.

Yep, I think that too. They'll give their usual bench minutes on the pitch and have a strong bench in case it's not going right for them. As you say, they'll start massive favourites and it's a really big ask to think we'll get a result there. I'll be happy if we go there and show we can play well, hopefully create some chances and take one of them and if we suffer a narrow defeat then the team will still come away with great credit. It could have been a good game for CJ to see his pace on the counter attack.

It wasn't run by the TV companies and money back then.

Similar to wba couple of first teamers and fringe / youngster I reckon, stopping in the premiership out weighs any money the get from the fa cup

They have a game the following Tuesday night think, played a weakened side against Newport so I think we have a good chance of progressing

Hope so. In any case, I'm quite optimistic because we tend to play well against the better teams, especially on the break which I think Brighton will be wary of after watching the WBA game. If we'd drawn another L1 side I'd have expected a frustrating game against another side parking the bus. Looking forward to this one.

23 Steele
3 White Sub Veltman 108'mins
5 Dunk
4 Webster
20 March Sub Bernardo 90+5'mins
13 Groß
8 Bissouma
16 Jahanbakhsh Sub Tauat 71'mins
10 Mac Allister Sub Trossard 63'mins
29 Zeqiri Sub Pröpper 63'mins
9 Maupay

This is the line up from the Newport County game, they play an unusual 4-2-2-2 system. As someone commented earlier they maintain a strong spine to the team. Newport took them all the way to sudden death in the penalty shoot-out so will be interesting to see how we go on.

That was when football was a sport and not a business.

Even for a regular premier league game Graham Potter is hard to predict in a team selection so in the FA Cup it's anybody's guess. I don't think we'll see Dunk, Bissouma or Lamptey though who are their best 3 players.
I think we'll struggle with them because they've got quality right throughout the squad. In general their performances are a lot better than their points total and with the pressure off a bit we could be in for a hiding.

Can't have 'passengers' in the side if we want to progress..like we did last Saturday at Hull. I think those who watched that game know which players I mean. Will be hard enough with 11 playing at the top of their game. If we have 9 or less playing below par it will be tough. Might be stating the bleeding obvious but we need to retain the ball better..and not just play side to side. Be more composed in attack and not afraid to shoot. We can get through if we take our chances. Hope Yates, Madine or the new kid, if eligible, can get amongst the goals. Can't see where else the goals will be coming from..certainly not from Lubala or Kaikai on current form.

Based on their tweets today they’ve got a fair few out through injury. All about whether Trossard and Maupay make an appearance. Those two will be the difference
