Reading v Blackpool Official Matchnight Thread 20.11.21

why does the lying bastard on SSN make things up? Said Reading were denies two penalties late on and that Husband didn't get much of the ball with his tackle. Got the ball clean as a whistle and plenty of it too..
I thought the 'handball' one could have gone either way. When I saw the replay I thought we had got away with one there. Especially considering he had given us one at the other end.

The other one was just a great tackle by Husband. Similar to the last ditch challenge their lad made on Demi in the 1st half.

Well, well, well. I was given the chance to go down with Wiz, but decided it was a bit too far and a late kick off. Taking into account my age and the fact I've never seen us win there. Serves me right. What a performance and result, roll on Saturday.
Doing an Elizabeth, it’s not easy. Enjoy games whenever you can. Everyone on here respects your support 🍊⚽👍

I very nearly posted at half time...you know what despite what weve seen I've just had that feeling we will win this, but it went against what my head thought and a reminder of some of the finishing and defending first half talked me out of it. 🤣

I posted very little during the game, as it was riveting & I didn't want to miss anything, especially in the second half.

Need to watch that game back. Cold light of day assessment. Wintle and Dougall not getting much attention but they were holding fort in there, cleaning everything up and keeping things moving forwards. Gabriel and Husband got forward a lot too. We were camped in their half basically. It was like we had a full XI, eight players attacking Reading, whereas Saturday we seemed a bit short.

It's because Madine didn't start!!

Just had a quick look on the Reading forum at their post match inquiry, most of them dignified in defeat and accepting that their 2 0 lead wasn't an accurate reflection. Although one half wit who uses the word terribly far too often and didn't think the players liked the ghastly weather said Blackpool were a terribly poor team!!
We let 2 soft goals in but apart from that dominated them with quality football for the entire match.
Why do some people watch football when they have no clue as to what they are looking at!!

Just look at some of the dimwits on our match thread when we were 2-0 down.
Every club has them.

They do, the first half was annoying because we let two soft goals in but our general play was as good or better than Readings. There was no problem with our performance apart from gifting them 2 goals! We were always in with a good chance of turning it around.

Got up this morning with one hell of a buzz. What a night, what a comeback. Absolutely shattered !
Boys gave 110%, can’t fault their commitment !

Not having a dig at Phil or 62years in your last sentence? :)

As Critch said after, we could have had 15 penalties. Two booked for diving after clearly playing the ball away from the defender, then two handballs by Reading players blocking a ball into the box.

I get that but we are talking about the Reading claims. I thought one of them could have easily been given.

Its a shame the extended highlights didn't include any of the penalty claims. Didn't get a great view from where I was but the Yates one looked good from where I was standing.

Well done you were brilliant especially second half. Knew what to expect when you lined up with six players across the line for second half kick off!!.
At half time we were in 5th place but last three games have been hanging on for dear life at the death, our starting 11 is the only 11 we can start and I think fatigue is catching up with us, we have nothing on the bench to bring on to freshen up, change tactics or shore up midfield as we needed to do last night, also no wide players, despite all that you deserved the win and your fans need a medal for coming down on a wet Wednesday night, good luck for the rest of the season, your spirit, energy and skill will serve you well.

Husband saves the day there and allows Marv to get it away, the other one was well out of the box ffs!
Very happy for James Husband. Always gives 100% and obviously very happy in Tangerine. Back in the team. If it is correct that he made a great tackle [ it was at the far end from us Pool fans at the game], wow - all I saw was Captain Marv clear it. UTMP.

Good of you to say so, I thought we looked really up for it straight from kick off and was annoyed that somehow we were 2 down at half time!
I thought your keeper looked good but from what I've seen the key to do well over the course of the season is to have about 20 players of a decent level that can be rotated.
Investing heavily in a few players and leaving yourself light on the subs bench doesn't seem to work out too well. I would guess Drinkwater is on big money!
Good luck for the rest of the season.

Due to FFP we are only allowed to sign out of contract players or one year loans and pay a Max £8500 per week, will get a points deductions due to a former CEO signing average players on long term contracts and big money. we’ve been addressing the problem for last two seasons, five of our starting eleven last season were through the academy, Olive went to Palace, Omar Richards for nowt to Bayern Munich out of contract and the others all long term injured. if interested ( probably not ) google our new training ground, academy is got to be the future.

You are a long way ahead of us on the training ground but I'm sure we will get there.
Signing average players on big money seems to be a problem for a lot of championship clubs.
