Reading v Blackpool Official Matchnight Thread 20.11.21

Its certainly the right time to play Reading. Its quite incredible they are where they are in the table with 12 first teamers out, and proper first teamers too, a number of loan signings starting and a complete bench bar the goalkeeper academy players. Its certainly the right time to be playing them despite their recent form.

1-1 (Yates to get a first half goal)

Heading there tomorrow with my eldest daughter, ironically her first game to see the Pool this season since her last visit to the Madejski when we drew 2-2 in the cup.

I don't like Reading and reading through their message board dislike them even more. They have a mysterious Chinese owner who has been racking up massive debts year on year, were handed a transfer embargo 2 or 3 seasons ago - remember this is the club that paid Charlie Adam 22K a week - and now are "negotiating" with the EFL about a points deduction.

They epitomize all that is wrong with the Championship, they have gambled and lost. I do have some sympathy for their fans as we know what it is like to have a shitty owner but it just goes to show how completely useless and impotent the EFL is when it comes to screening potential new owners of football clubs.

Reading on a good run. Hopefully no more surprise omissions, expecting an improved performance from Saturday. Going for a 1-1 draw. Yates on a roll.

How do you know that?

Fancy us tonight for some strange reason! 1-2 Madine, TJJ from the bench 🤯

Seems Critch has followed my advice swapping Bowler & TJJ for Demi and Keshi.
Little bit surprised with Carey for Madine. Hubby is also a surprise but he's a better defender than Garbs.
Probably squad management with Madine and especially Garbs needing a rest.
Looking a bit like
4-2-3-1

With the exception of Jerry thats a team that will do plenty of tracking back and picking up defensive roles, much needed from Saturday!
