£1m for Bowler

I agree. It’s better to get another season out of him. He’s worth more to us for next season than £1m.
He looks super happy in the training videos. If I was Appleton and the others I'd be offering him a really good new deal to stay on and extend his contract and if he has a great season he will still be sought after or he can stay and help us get in the play offs or better. 1 million is an insult and they will be told to fuck off. We got over 2 million for Critchley, which we weren't expecting, we don't need to sell him, he is more valuable to us as a player. It needs to be 4 million or more. If we could get a million or more for Anderson I'd be delighted, we have a big squad and we will play the loan market much better this season and we need left and right backs, right as cover and a left wing back and one or two creative midfielders as well as a couple more wingers.

If true, they're trying it on as an initial offer
As posted, we would be better keeping him for another season than selling for 1m.
I think he'll go (no great surprise), but we're not the bargain basement any more, and the market needs to realise that. I'm confident the club will do well out of it either way. Just the start of negotiations, that's all., but an insult all the same.

Bournemouth apparently offered £1m for Bowler.

If he’s sold for anything less than £3m then it’s clear where the playing budget is at.
It might be tempting to get something for him, but 1 million, even with 1 year left he's worth more than that.

1 million could get us a decent replacement but likely untested at this level.

Bowler on his day is the best dribbler in the championship, unstoppable.

Better to have him for a season as a player who's already at the level and knows how to do it.

Unless he wants to go and kicks up a right fuss, which doesn't seem his nature, can't see Sadler / Mansford accepting it.

Agree with everyone that he's worth much more than that, but tbf we've spent 12 months trying to get Brannagan for less than the asking price, so it's something every club does.

We messed them around in January, they want to mess us around a bit now. C’est la vie. Hang tight and see what happens.

They’ll be back before the end of the window after a shit start to the season, thinking they need some creativity to get them going. A few other Clubs will be like this too, so he can start the season with us.

Contract length is an issue for his value but it’s 3m or more or no deal.

He’s the best ball carrier/dribbler in the Championship and the stats back it up.

Plus he’ll be fresh after his long rest at the end of the season due to his “fatigue” that our previous Manager kept telling us about… which if he goes for 1m is a joke, as him not playing didn’t help our end to the season and for a potential low fee as it appears nothing was agreed. A pointless exercise all round.

As the saying went back in those days of Franny Jeffers on trial.. “Hold your nerve”… we’ve got something people want that’ll become more valuable when they’ll need him more after a few shite results.

Bournemouth know what we all know. Josh is mercurial….on his day, but sadly they are few and far between. He was stop- start up until the end of January, then he hit a purple patch through February, with dazzling displays….and goals ! Then the lights went out again. They will think he’s wonderful when on song, but anonymous in most of the games ; hence the low bid. If he’s on fire this August, there will be a bidding war, and the price could be anything. If he’s dull, there will be little interest.

Even if he leaves on a ‘free’ come the end of his contract we’ll be due compensation due to his age. £1 million isn’t even anywhere close to his value. He’ll be on wages below his true value as a player. Absolutely no sense in selling him unless it’s £3.5-£4 million

Agree with everyone that he's worth much more than that, but tbf we've spent 12 months trying to get Brannagan for less than the asking price, so it's something every club does.
True, but we were probably 10/20% away from their valuation, Bournemouth are realistically 80% away which is a bit of an insult after being promoted to the Premier League.

Don't sell, let him play for us, maybe in January sell for more than a million , as clubs pay more especially those panic buying looking to stay up!!;

Fulham sold Carvaliho so they need more. Forest need back up for Johnson in case he’s injured and

Bournemouth will inevitably struggle so will need re enforcements and with the Prem cash £4m is a drop for them particularly as they’ll be back the season after with their best players picked off ala Burnley now

At that sort of price, I can imagine a number of Championship clubs in the running, possibly a few PL ones as an investment to loan out, hopefully a bidding war will erupt and push the price up.

We have a serious businessman at the helm, I’m quite certain he’s not going to be a negotiating pushover
Well Div 1 wanted £500k for Kirk and not too far off that for Dale.

One of the player’s of the season in the pundits eyes in the Championship is therefore worth what? Even with only 1 year on his contract

Ah yes. I can vividly remember the huge amount of sleep I lost worrying about the Franny Jeffers situation....

Cannot blame them for trying it on, just hope and presume the club see sense. Agree for 1 million take a chance keep him for this season and try to get him to sign an extension. If not then there’s always the transfer window during the season when we can look at selling him, after he has helped secure us a decent start. A bid of Around 3.5 million and we can start to take them seriously

For me, we get him on a new deal say 2 or 3 years and build a clause in for bowler to get a percentage of any future sale incentivising him to re-sign. That way, any future serious offers will give him a payout from us as well as his signing-on fee at the new club.
I’m sure he’ll provide many more magical moments like last season and the suiters will follow in good time.

Is the £1m just for Josh's magic boots - naff off Parker, are you are extracting the urine?
This is a tricky one for Pool. Josh is worth £4-5m, so why accept any less?
Does he want to join a PL club down south (I assume he still has family in the south) on a better contract, rather than extend at Pool?
If he wants to go and we block it, he will leave for nothing at the end of the season and that will be bad business.
How will a failed sale affect his performances next season. I would hope that it wouldn't.
It comes down to what Josh wants, and if we let him go now for an agreed fee or at the end of the season for nothing.
We just need to get it sorted ASAP, along with the other incomings and outgoings 🧡

Also if its being reported as 1 million where's that come from, we won't have leaked it, Bowlers agent or Bournemouth trying to get it out there they want him and put pressure on us to let him go knowing he might want to.....

But it's also probably old news now if its filtered down to us. We might have already rejected it and said 3 million or no deal....

Article (Nixon in The Sun) says they will try their luck at a £1m.

If the article is right and they are still interested then £3m will be the fee I reckon.

I don't think Bowler played or was consistent enough to start a bidding war, so our expectations for the fee should be lowered and £5m would be dreamland.

He’s either going to go now for about £3ishM or he plays out the entire season with us and leaves on a free in 12 months. (Probably signing a pre contract somewhere in Jan as his own wages would go through the roof on a free).

If we don’t get in the region of 3 million for him the club, I would say, despite him leaving for nothing will likely see his residual value in keeping us in The Championship which at a guess is worth more than 3 million a year to us.

Some one like Bower definitely could tip the balance between survival and relegation.

If nobody comes in for him before the window shuts it will be interesting to see how he plays. Will he shine or will the teddy be out of the pram.

Players can only sign a pre contract in Jan with foreign clubs.

He is on Div 1 wages 1 m is probably right for the wages he is on .
Sell now or he goes for free next June same with a number of your players.
Money isn't the motivating factor for the club, anymore. If nobody comes in with the correct offer which meets the valuation of the best winger in the division then he stays. If he should then leave for free in a years time, c'est la vie!

We’d be due a tribunal fee. Likely a decent fee given if he wants a good move and a good contract he’ll need to play well all season. Would we get a similar player on similar wages ? No. Is he likely gonna get 10 goals and assists this season. Yes. That sort of return in the season could be the difference between relegation and survival in a poor team or playoffs and mid table in a decent team. Either way it’s worth a hell of a lot of money.
