The same place we played him when we started to create chances in the second half. For half the game we were playing a goal poacher on the wing.

We didn't create any proper 'chances' in the second half before Lavery went off... We had a couple of opportunities from corners and Yates had a cross / shot. The same place we played him when we started to create chances in the second half.
I'm curious about these chances we created, yes we caused a few problems from corners but I don't recall too many glaring chances from open play. We controlled the 2nd half, got behind them a handful of times but didn't think we created too many actual chances.Which we did on Tuesday to no prevail.
We didn't create any genuine chances, It's bollocks!!I'm curious about these chances we created, yes we caused a few problems from corners but I don't recall too many glaring chances from open play. So you’re saying we were better with Lavery not on the pitch? We didn't create any proper 'chances' in the second half before Lavery went off... We had a couple of opportunities from corners and Yates had a cross / shot.
Yates cross come shot.I'm curious about these chances we created, yes we caused a few problems from corners but I don't recall too many glaring chances from open play. We controlled the 2nd half, got behind them a handful of times but didn't think we created too many actual chances.
I’m saying we didn’t create a proper chance from open play and that our forwards are not getting proper service. So you’re saying we were better with Lavery not on the pitch?
Convenient.
A speculative long range shot and a cross that never made it past the near post ?Yates cross come shot.
Corbeanu flashing one across the box to be collected by the goal keeper.
There’s 2 off the top of my head, I’m sure there was one, maybe 2 more.
So for it to be a “chance” in your eyes - does a player have to go 1v1 with the goalkeeper? Or take it round them? Or maybe take on 3 players and then square it to someone else for them to miss to class it as a chance?A speculative long range shot and a cross that never made it past the near post ?
The only proper chance (if you can call it that) was the cross from Corbeanu, which fell to Thompson, when he scuffed the volley.
It has to be a genuine opportunity…So for it to be a “chance” in your eyes - does a player have to go 1v1 with the goalkeeper? Or take it round them? Or maybe take on 3 players and then square it to someone else for them to miss to class it as a chance?
You haven’t played much football, have you?
Yes unfortunately they fell to defenders, Marv had one and Connelly had a coupleYates cross come shot.

Marv & Wright from set play (corners) and Connelly from a long throw.Yes unfortunately they fell to defenders, Marv had one and Connelly had a couple
there's a difference between creating a chance or a goalscoring opportunity to getting in a position where the next pass creates that opportunity. We do the latter a fair bit but not the former. Your previous example of Corbeanu was a clear example of the latter. Why? Because no-one actually missed a chance. And I've played plenty of football to know the difference. So for it to be a “chance” in your eyes - does a player have to go 1v1 with the goalkeeper? Or take it round them? Sorry I didn't read the thread properly, I thought he was talking about chances in general. I guess one positive from the last 2 games is there hasn't been that many chances against usMarv & Wright from set play (corners) and Connelly from a long throw.

So 2 poor crosses, I'd hardly say that was glaring chances. Whatever is being worked on, in terms of final ball and movement in the box needs to drastically improve.Yates cross come shot.

Cba pal. It was always going to take time to click.See my comment on the match thread.
Yesterday's performance was excellent, best of the season. That is the level we need to aim for, no going back to the passive crap we've played for the most part this term.
Precisely what I've been saying, build the players up that we have available, play a formation that suits them. Continually using excuses doesn't help anyone. If we can get close to maintaining that level of performance consistently, my opinion will change as that was much closer to the aggressive, attacking game Appleton spoke about.Great to see a decent performance and one in the eye for those bemoaning the squad. This squad of players is plenty good enough, we just need to use them effectively.
Fantastic that everyone’s favourite whipping boy (CJ) and Jerry ‘won’t score many at this level’ Yates featured in the goals too
For about the hundredth time we only played a back 5 due to a lack of midfield optionsPrecisely what I've been saying, build the players up that we have available, play a formation that suits them.
