After much debate over the summer ref tickets/ season ticket sales Simon and the fans have got to be very happy with £10k plus home fans for the opening game?! Appreciate there were a few neutrals taking in a game whilst on summer hols but Seasiders are away on hols too. 👍 To all that bought tickets and hopefully a good following for Port Vale next

I think Port Vales display yesterday may put a few off coming to Blackpool but I'd still expect 1200 or so. With it being a Tuesday night, I'm guessing the overall numbers will be similar.

Maybe people not so easily being able to pass a season ticket card to a friend has helped boost the attendance figure after all.
I think first game of the season, Norburn signing and missing STH being counted have more to do with it. Also a few holidayers always swell the gate this time of the year.

In context, it was the 6th highest in the division out of 11 declared gates.

Great effort. More than I thought.

I’m done for a while as going on my hols soon. Will be going to the Tenerife BFC bar so I’ll still be able to add my valued input.

Very little impact there.

It's more than we had in the championship vs Reading.

It makes a big difference to have more fans onside as opposed to with Appleton, slightly cheaper although compared to last time in league 1 it's a lot more expensive.

We will grow over time as we've been held back as a club for a while before SS took over.

More than the opening game last season against Reading.

10279 at Carlisle.

We are not even a big L1 club in attendance terms. Some much bigger clubs.
6th out of 11, but to be fair I think we're likely to be 6th out of 24 at the end. Maybe 7th with Reading. We're certainly one of the bigger clubs in this league.

Carlisle has a big catchment area. Majority of Cumbria and even Southern Scotland.
Sorry Graham but I’d have to disagree about the “catchment” area.
It is so vast up there that any out of towners would have a long journey to get to a match and Carlisle are not really crowd pullers.
With that said, it was a decent gate which I don’t think was bolstered by the away support.
Fleetwood don’t take much away support and although in sporting terms it is classed as a derby match, in geographical terms it is far from that.
First games are always full of optimism and what are good gates can soon fizzle out if your team goes on a bad run.
I think the terminology is fickleness which is abundant at a hell of a lot of clubs.
